On 27th September 2022, reports surfaced that England Cricket Board (ECB) has apparently proposed to host a bilateral test series between India and Pakistan. The aim was to bring bilateral cricket relations between the rival nations back on track. Neither the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nor the BCCI have made any comments or confirmed the news of the proposal.

Over many years, the bilateral relations between the greatest Asian rivals have ceased to exist. Owing to political issues, India-Pakistan games are only limited to major continental and official global ICC tournaments. India last hosted Pakistan in the year 2012. However, Iceland Cricket has a savage reply to England’s alleged proposal.

Iceland Cricket takes a dig at England’s offer

The official Twitter account of Iceland Cricket has made a hilarious comment on the entire fiasco. They have made a counteroffer to the same. They also wrote that along with the neutral venue, they could also provide sunny weather and sniper security.

“We hear ECB cricket has offered to host a Test series between India and Pakistan. We officially announce to ICC that we are also offering to do the same & can provide near 24-hour daylight in June and July, as well as better Tweets covering the matches. Sniper security too,”

Iceland cricket is well known for its witty tweets every now and then. Their tweets have gone viral on multiple occasions. On this occasion, they just did not stop at this single tweet. In another post on Twitter, Iceland cricket took a jibe at The Ashes as well. Here’s what they wrote,

“This is the Volcanic Ashes trophy for when Pakistan play India in a 3 Test series here. It’s currently given to the winners of our indoor club tournament, but we can create a new mickey mouse event & trophy for them. Filled with ash from our eruptions & set in a basaltic base,”

“Why should the fans not enjoy India-Pakistan games?” Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has echoed his voice for a bilateral series between the arch-rivals on multiple events. He said that both countries should put their political differences aside for the sake of the fans.

“Whenever I talk about India and Pakistan, it’s not always as the chairman of a Cricket Board. But it’s the cricketer that comes out. And as a cricketer, I’ll say that politics can be set aside because why should the fans not enjoy India-Pakistan games? The numbers and the figures are there for everyone to see why it is still the best competition in the world. And somehow, we’ve got to make it happen,”

However, BCCI has denied any possibilities of a bilateral series in the near future owing to political unrest between the two nations.
