New Chelsea goalkeeper signing Gabriel Slonina will fly to Stamford on Wednesday to begin the training for his new club.

Gabriel signed for Chelsea in August from the Chicago fire. He was sent on loan immediately loaned back for the remainder of the season.

Who is Chelsea’s new signing Gabriel Slonina?

Slonina is an American goalkeeper, he signed his first professional contract in 2019 to become the second-youngest signing in MLS at the age of 14. He made his senior debut or Chicago fire in August 2021.

Chelsea signed Slonina in early August for a fee of around £ 12 million.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed Slonina will travel to England for a few weeks before traveling back to the US for training camp.

Romano tweeted:

“Gabriel Slonina will fly to London on Wednesday and join Chelsea for the following 13 days, as MLS regular season is over. #CFC

Gabriel posted a heartfelt message about the Chicago fire on his Twitter.

He tweeted:

Chicago, thank you for the all the memories. Although it may seem over, I’ll forever keep Fire in my heart”.

Slonina is excited about his move to Stamford. He earlier expressed his excitement about being able to represent the Blues.

He said:

“It was a no-brainer for me to want to join that team, such a massive club with so much history and the things they have done in the past years has truly been amazing. So it’s an incredible honor to be joining the club”.

Chelsea might reportedly send him back on loan to the MLS side for the third season if they think he’s not ready yet to play Premier League football.
