Arsenal demanding £50 million for Eddie Nketiah

Arsenal are desperately looking for a striker. The North London club wants to sign a striker who can score on consistent basis. In 2023/24 season, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus both failed to score consistently which forced Mikel Arteta to use Kai Havertz as a striker. The German international didn’t disappoint as he was very good in finding the back of the net. However Arteta knows that its not the preferred position of Havertz and is working on it. Before signing new players, the Gunners need to offload some of their existing stars. While Gabriel Jesus’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, Eddie Nketiah is almost set to be sold by the club.

Nketiah has been with Gunners since his youth days. However his inconsistency became a concern for Arteta and the Spaniard is ready to part ways with him. However, Arsenal are reported to be demanding £50 million for 25 year old. Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordon is shocked by Arsenal’s demanding price.

Simon Jordon shocked by what Arsenal are demanding for Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah has his current contract running until 2027. The 25 year old also earns £100,000 per week currently. While talking to talkSPORT, Simon Jordon was absolutely shocked with what Arsenal are demanding for their striker.

The Gunners are demanding £50 million for their 25 year old striker who scored only 5 goals in 27 Premier League fixtures. Simon Jordon after getting shocked said that Arsenal must be joking. He believes that Nketiah is not worth £50 million and the Gunners should lower their price.

“Ultimately if you want to get £40 million, you’re better off asking for £50 million. But is he worth £50 million? Pfft, you’ve got to be joking haven’t you?” – Simon Jordon on Arsenal’s demanding price for Nketiah.

Former Crystal Palace owner believes that Nketiah is lucky to be £30 million player and earning £100,000 a week. Jordon also made a bold statement that everyone except Eddie Nketiah’s family will agree that he is not worth £50 million.

Along with Crystal Palace, three other English clubs are interested in signing Nketiah. West Ham United, Everton and Southampton are willing to look after 25 year old striker but £50 million would be a huge turn off for them.

Nketiah’s career so far

Nketiah joined Arsenal academy in 2015 after departing from Chelsea academy. Nketiah represented the Gunners on different youth stages and improving regularly. In 2017, Arsene Wenger called Nketiah for pre-season games. It was on 28th September 2017, when Nketiah made his professional debut for Arsenal’s first team.

In 2019, Nketiah joined Leeds United on a loan. He only played 19 matches for Leeds in which he managed to find the back of the net 5 times. He was recalled by Arsenal early in January 2020. Ever since, Nketiah has been with Gunners. In 2023/24 season Nketiah played 27 Premier League matches but only managed to score 5 goals. However these stats are still better than 2022/23 season. In 2022/23 season, Nketiah only score 4 goals in 30 Premier League fixtures.

Simon Jordon about Jack Grealish

While Simon Jordon was talking about Eddie Nketiah, he was asked a question about Jack Grealish. The question was is Jack Grealish worth £100 million to which Jordon answered with a strong No. However Jordon thinks technically Grealish is £100 million because of the smart business from Aston Villa is setting his release clause at that price. Jordon also thinks that Grealish might be worth the money if a manager like Pep Guardiola who is unique in every sense agrees to pay that amount. The Former palace manager then continued to say that comparing Grealish and Nketiah is not right.
