Arsenal are likely to target a centre-forward in the next summer window claims David Ornstein. Writing in his Q&A for The Athletic this week, David Ornstein reported that as things stand, he doesn’t believe Arsenal are focusing on signing a striker in January. Moreover, Ornstein feels that signing a centre-forward will be a priority for the Gunners. Though an injury or a bid for one of the club’s current forward options could change things. Although, Arsenal are looking to stick to their current players for rest of the season.

Despite the departure of Folarin Balogun in the summer, Arsenal still have a number of options up front for this season. Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are two obvious choices for Mikel Arteta this season. Moreover, they have mostly started up front this season for Arsenal. Besides them, Kai Havertz is there, who started in a central role against Manchester City in a 1-0 win. He even assisted the winning goal of Gabriel Martinelli. Leandro Trossard played up front when Nketiah and Jesus were injured last season. He’did so briefly on a couple of occasions this campaign.

Arsenal have been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney recently. Though, there are rumours that the news is coming mostly from the side of Ivan Toney. If Ornstein’s suspicions about Arsenal’s intentions for the January window are correct, it may well be the case that Toney is more interested in the move than the Gunners are.
