IND vs NZ: Bracewell, Santner to Lead ODI & T20I Squads Before T20 World Cup
New Zealand Announce Limited-Overs Squads for India Tour
New Zealand Cricket revealed the limited overs squads for India tour on Wednesday. The tour will consist of five T20 International matches and three One day International matches. The show will be launched on January eleven. Kane Williamson will not be in either of these teams. Selectors made a decision to deal with his work overload before a busy international schedule. Michael Bracewell will lead the ODI team. Mitchell Santner will be in command of the T20I team in the 5 match series.
Williamson Rested as New Zealand Fine-Tune Combinations
New Zealand seek players who will be comfortable in the Indian conditions. Unique challenges are the slow pitches and quality spin. Without Williamson, leadership would be a tactical thing to do. Young players too have an exposure to a top ranked opponent. Tour assists in sealing combinations prior to the world competition.
India Tour Key to T20 World Cup Build-Up
The T20 world cup will be beginning in February in India and Sri Lanka, adding urgency to New Zealand’s packed white-ball schedule. Kyle Jamieson returns after recovering from injury, while Mark Chapman and Matt Henry are also back in the T20I setup. However, Ravindra Duffy O’Rourke and Tickner are absent in the tour on fitness grounds. Jayden Lennox and Kristian Clarke are domestic performers who receive rewards of selection.
Performances to Shape World Cup Plans
The management of the teams will keep a close eye on the performances in either format. Good performances can influence final world cup team decisions. The young players are able to get long term roles on a regular basis. The results of leadership will be used in future plans. The series may be a guarantee of competitive cricket and experimentation on the strategic level prior to the heightening the global pressure.
