John Obi Mikel dissapointed with Chelsea Squad: Publicly thrashes stars who are not “Good Enough”

Pochettino

Former Chelsea legend publicly thrashes players in the current squad, claiming they are not fit enough to start. Chelsea has had a lackluster performance since Roman Abramovic decided to sell the club. The American philosophy is taking a huge time to settle in and taking a toll on the club’s performance. Club legend John Obi Mikel has been left disappointed with the recent performances of Chelsea, with two players in particular, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi, who are condemned to be nowhere near the potential for starting in the Premier League. Under Pochettino, the Blues witnessed a season where they found themselves on the 6th position of table. Although not bad for a struggling side, it does fall short of Chelsea’s standards. The debut season of Pochetinno has had a mixed reaction, due to which he has been replaced by Enzo Maresca. The Italian manager will start on July 1st.

Mikel slams Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi of Chelsea

Enzo Maresca is keen to rebuild a proper squad for the upcoming 24/25 season. He is studying the previous season to understand what went wrong. Maresca has already found his confidence in Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia, whom he has coached during his time at Manchester City. He is yet to decide on how to conduct other members of the team, especially the defense. With the experienced Thiago Silva leaving Stamford Bridge and returning to his home town, it is difficult to find someone who is reliable in the back line.

Amidst all of this, John Obi Mikel cannot recognize the club he once played for. Mikel is highly in the dash of hope with Badiashile and Disasi of Chelsea, who have featured quite a lot under Pochettino. The former Chelsea legend has his own podcast, where he recently thrashed the two players publicly, claiming a need for improvement in the roles. He further added;

“I don’t think Benoit Badiashile is the guy for Chelsea. Alex Disasi… no! We need two proven, top centre backs who will come in and stabilise that back four. We need two world class centre backs.”

Badiashile and Disasi have made around 30 Premier League appearances in their debut season, which is impressive to say the least. In a squad where more or less every player is underperforming, it is a bit harsh to pick on certain individuals from a distance. It is true that Chelsea is not the same as it once used to be, but comparing the current situation and expecting players like John Terry or Ricardo Carvalho is too far-fetched. It is important to give the managers time to settle in. Who knows, we might see another Arteta who makes Arsenal stable again.
