Liverpool are still favourites to sign Romeo Lavia – Fabrizio Romano

Romeo Lavia

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool are still favourites to sign Southampton midfelder Romeo Lavia as the negotiations continue.

The Belgian midfielder has been linked with Liverpool for a long time now and after three successive bids got rejected, god knows what will happen at the end. League rivals Chelsea want to enter the race for Lavia this summer as they’re lurking in the background.

Despite successive rejections, Romano still believes that Reds are still leading the race for Lavia’s signature this summer. He said on The Brief that Reds are favourites to sign him.

Romano suggests Liverpool are still leading the for the Southampton midfielder

“Liverpool are favourites, they’ve been bidding for weeks. Chelsea are always there because he is appreciated by the board. Joe Shields almost created Romeo as a player at Southampton and at Man City’s academy. At the moment sources believe that Liverpool remain the favourites. The expectation is for Liverpool to try again.

The Belgian midfielder have been wanted for months by Liverpool and we are just one week away from the start of the Premier League season.

After horrific performance last campaign, it was evident that Reds were eager for a midfield shake-up. Currently Klopp’s team doesn’t have a defensive midfielder in their ranks after Fabinho and Jordan Henderson departure from the club this summer.

Southampton are currently playing the hard-ball with the Mersyside club as they stand firm valuation £50 million for Lavia in this transfer window. Meanwhile, Reds needs to show little ruthless character to get the players they want.
