Liverpool

Liverpool have teamed up with Japan Airlines this season who will become the club’s official airline partner. The partnership includes both, the men’s and women’s team and aims to fulfil both the organisations’ ambitious global growth plans. The Reds boast having over 1.5 billion fans on social media, and is one of the most watched club globally. The airlines is the club’s first signing this summer, aiming to increase club’s annual revenue to compete against financially superior rivals like Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal. Since ending their partnership with Malaysian airlines in 2019, Liverpool had not secured an airline sponsor until now. This deal with such a huge airline will significantly boost their transfer budget and expand their global reach resulting in positive cash flow. In July, the airline will support a youth football clinic during LFC’s preseason match in Philadelphia.

Liverpool and Japan Airlines form alliance to battle richer clubs!

Liverpool has partnered with Japan airlines to mount a resurgence in revenue, to compete against the likes of Man City and Chelsea. Recent record revenue by the Cityzens help their dominance on field, enabling investments in top players. Chelsea, run by American billionaire Todd Boehly, also generate massive revenue helping them spend millions of British pounds on transfers. City generate £341m in commercials, almost half of their overall revenue thanks to Etihad Airways. Arch rivals Manchester United funded by the Glazers and INEOS also generated £648m revenue. Liverpool earned £594m in 2022/23, showing no improvement from the previous campaign. The Reds’ commercial income is roughly £273m, adding £9m losses due to taxes. Minako Kent, chief commercial officer of Japan Airlines says;

“Japan Airlines and Liverpool FC share a deep commitment to nurturing multinational talent, investing in youth development, and supporting the communities we serve. Through our partnership with the LFC Foundation, we are excited to expand these efforts and make a lasting positive impact on young people around the world.”

There has been a huge difference between the clubs, with Man City becoming dominant in all aspects in the league. The Sky Blues have won 4 league titles consecutively and 7 titles in last 10 years. It has been 4 years since Liverpool won the league in 2020 and they want the red ribbons to lace the trophy again. Commercials are a significant boost to transfer budgets and a positive bill. Partnering with the new sponsorship they will hope to increase their commercial revenue again. Arne Slot’s men will begin their USA preseason tour in July, fans are excited for the future!
