Liverpool will submit a new bid for Romeo Lavia this week – Romano

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool will submit a new bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this week.

The transfer pundit shared an update on social media on Liverpool’s attempts to sign the 19-year-old this summer. Southampton have already rejected Reds’ £40 million bid for Lavia last month.

Saints want £50 million for their star prospect this summer and they’re not willing to negotiate the price down. However, Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring Lavia in this transfer window.

After loosing both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer, Liverpool have a defensive void left in the middle of the pitch. Hence, Liverpool are now ready to launch a new bid for Lavia to fill that empty spot this season.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool will definitely submit a new bid for Romeo Lavia this week. The Belgian midfielder is also interested to make the switch to Anfield happen this summer, but Southampton first needs to accept their offer.

Lavia joined Saints last summer from Manchester City and had a brilliant season last term for them. His former boss Pep Guardiola is quite impressed with him and praised the youngster back in April. The Spaniard said :-

“I am really impressed with what Romeo has done and is doing.

“We had, and we have, an incredible opinion about him. We thought to keep him, but maybe he would not (get) enough minutes like he has in Southampton.”

Lavia will be a perfect fit of Liverpool and he will be a good proposition for Klopp’s system, as he would add more mobility at the base of their midfield. However, it will also be interesting to see wheather Reds are willing match Southampton’s £50 million demand this summer.
