Manchester City boss Guardiola reportedly had the chance to sign Paul Pogba on the eve of the Manchester derby back in April, 2018. However, Pep said that he had ‘no regrets’ for not signing the Manchester United star. He had revealed that back in 2018 he did have the chance to sign him from United just before the derby.

The French midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season. He is expected to leave the Red Devils after that. Though, highly esteemed in the French footballi g setup, he has failed to impress the United fans with his skill. In his six-year spell he has only been able to win two silverwares- Europa League and the EFL Cup.

However, many are of the opinion that Pep can get the best out of Pogba. City are reportedly willing to make a move for the 29-year midfielder. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid are also thought to have been shown interest for the player.Pogba’s late agent Mino Raiola had offered Pep to bring him to Manchester City.

It is then to the comment of Raiola that Pep responded that he had ‘no regrets’. Raiola had described Pep to be a ‘dog’ and a ‘coward’. Pep responded by saying, “I will answer him; I don’t understand why I am. Finally, the people discover my secrets – a bad guy. I’m a coward [sarcasm].” “Why he offer? He was interested in Mhikitaryan and Pogba to play with us? So he has to protect his players and has to know he cannot bring the players to a guy like me, like a dog. And comparing a dog is bad. It’s not good. He has to respect the dogs.”

Can Paul Pogba be signed by City this summer?

Pogba was the star player in that derby who scored twice to stage a magnificent comeback against their home rivals. Guradiola’s side, however, went on to lift the title in that season.

City could not afford Pogba back in 2018. However, they can do that this summer. City is believed to be able to match Pogba’s salary which was £300,000-a-week at United.

Moreover, the absence of a transfer fee will more stimulate City to move forward with this transfer. If Pogba moves onto City he would not be the first to do that. Carlos Tevez had done the same in 2009.
