This transfer window has been a successful one for Manchester United under the guidance of Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group.
Transfer activities under Jim Ratcliffe
After acquiring a major stake in Manchester United, Jim Ratcliffe changed the sporting director and appointed Dan Ashworth. Previously, he had led transfer activities for New Castle United. He was involved in the transfer moves of Aleksander Isak, Sven Botman, Anthony Gordon.
Manchester United want to utilize the expertise of Dan Ashworth. Till now Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group have bought Joshua Zirkzee for €40m. United has agreed to pay the entire transfer fees to Bologna in three years.
Multiple reports are claiming that Ivan Toney has agreed to join Manchester United. On top of that, Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group has sold players like Mason Greenwood, Kambwala, Donny Van de Beek and made a profit from their sales.
Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United have convinced De Light to leave Bayern Munich and join them at the Old Trafford. He will be replacing former Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane because the Red Devils are loosing him on a free transfer. Multiple sources are telling that he will join an Italian club called Como.
United have identified two more defenders who can replace the French man. One is Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton. He played a major role in Everton’s 2023-2024 Premier League campaign. So, Manchester United made a bid of £45m to Everton but the Toffees rejected the bid.
Another one is Lenny Yoro from Lille. According to NDTV Sports, Manchester United made a £42m bid for Yoro and the French club have accepted the bid. Multiple reports are claiming that Lille is convincing him to join Manchester United but the player has a dream to play for Real Madrid.
A new transfer strategy
At this moment, Manchester United are identifying those players whom they need. They have analyzed all the players and their traits. Till now the Red Devils have brought in players based on their hype. For example there was high demand for Brazilian winger Anthony. So they splashed €100 million on him.
Jim Ratcliffe want to build a United squad which will play fluent football under Erik Ten Hag. Every player should cooperate with each other. The appointment of Dan Ashworth and Christopher Vivell has proven to be the master stroke for Manchester United.
Both of them are perfectly carrying out this transfer strategy. Last season, Manchester United finished out of top four spots in Premier League. In the upcoming season, they want to achieve something big.
The Red Devils should apply Chelsea’s strategy. In 2023-2024 season, the Blues sporting director Paul Wintansley and his group has thoroughly researched about the players they are going to sign. This strategy has helped them to bring in players like Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Dorde Petrovic. Each of them has contributed a huge part in Chelsea’s 2023-2024 Premier League campaign.
