Manchester United‘s poor run of form have raised big questions on the team’s management. Is it time to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and fill the vacant shoes with an experienced manager at Manchester United?
The issue with Solskjaer continues to be the same as it has been since the day he was appointed- consistency. The man has found himself in a “one game away from the sack” situation countless times before. As the super sub did in his playing days, he has often managed to grasp a late rally and somehow win games.
A disaster at the King Power Stadium…
The Leicester game was supposed to be “the tide-changing” game for United. However, the result never came. Instead, United’s failings over the past 8 years were encapsulated in that one game with them conceding 4 goals.
For too long, Ole’s team have been surviving on the individual brilliance of a few- Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Greenwood. However, when they stop shining, Manchester United look lifeless.
There is no tactical push, or instruction that Ole seems to be capable of giving which might affect the outcome of the match and things don’t look bright with the scary run of fixtures coming up with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham as the next four Premier League fixtures.
What’s next? Should Manchester United sack Ole?
There is no doubt that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did a great job to get United to a position where the fans could, at the very least, begin to dream of better things again. Thus, he came and steadied a ship riddled with holes, and built a squad that now boasts the likes of Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Raphael Varane.
But that, unfortunately, is where the story ends. It seems improbable, near impossible, that Ole will develop the tactical nous and man-management ability required to get United flying at the top again.
It’s time United finally get a manager who can level the managerial playing field of Pep, Klopp and Tuchel. Ole will forever be remembered for 1999, and the countless other times he saved United from the brink. But there was a reason he was a “super-sub” and not a starter.
And now, it’s time to get him back on the bench.
