Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League, after their 3-1 win over Southampton last week at home. Mikel Arteta’s men completed the turnover in the match after conceding first just after the ten minutes of the start of the second half. This match was also important for all the Arsenal fans as their Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, made his first start this season.
The Brazilian international hasn’t featured till the Southampton match for the Gunners. Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright has appealed to all the Arsenal fans to support Gabriel Jesus.
Mikel Arteta is using the German international, Kai Havertz, for the striker position this season. Havertz is continuously doing his best in that position. But this is the first time Mikel Arteta used Gabriel Jesus in the starting lineup for the number nine position in this season.
In fact, this was the first match that Gabriel Jesus made his appearance for the Gunners in this season.
Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright tells everyone to support Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus made 36 appearances last season for the Gunners and scored only eight goals across all competitions. Till now, there has been no luck for the Brazilian international failed to score a single goal within the eight appearances that he made this season. Arsenal fans are losing faith in the former Manchester City striker. However, recently former Arsenal striker Ian Wright backed up Gabriel Jesus and told all the Arsenal fans to support him.
According to news published by Mirror, the former England international said,
“I feel the need to support him right now, I really, really do. I know there’s a feeling that we may have outgrown him but remember when Gabby came, he was a leveller, he levelled us up.”
There is no doubt that Gabriel Jesus is not having a good season with the Gunners and his last season was also not good enough. That’s why Arsenal were looking for a new number nine during the summer transfer window. However, Mikel Arteta kept his faith in the existing options for the number nine position and signed no more number nine in the transfer window. As Mikel Arteta is using Kai Havertz more for the striker position, it is difficult for the Brazilian international to get the starting position in the Arsenal squad.
Ian Wright told all the Arsenal fans to support him as the Brazilian failed to come into the limelight due to his bad performance. Wright said that every player has a difficult phase in their career.
