Arsenal lost by 2-0:
The Gunners got defeated against NewCastle United in the Carabao Cup Semi Final leg 2. They were looking forward to win this match to reach the finals. However, they failed because of their inconsistency and over confidence. They tried their best in the match no doubt. Also, the Gunners created many chances too. They took many shots. Most of the shots were blocked by NewCastle United as well. Martin, the Arsenal skipper also missed several chances too. At the end, New Castle did not miss any of their opportunities and scored every goal. They won by 2-0 again and 4-0 on aggregate.
EFL gives statement on Arsenal Match:
In that match, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were both playing insanely good. In that match Anthony Gordon scored one really good goal and Jacob Murphy scored another goal as well. The Jacob Murphy goal came from a rebound of Alexander Isak’s rebound from the post as well. Alexander Isak scored one goal from a beautiful ball of Anthony Gordon. He shot it to the left of David Raya who could not save it. However, later the goal was ruled offside. EFL also issued a statement saying that, the goal was given at first. However, after a VAR checking was done, the goal was disallowed instead because Alexander Isak was offside.
Author’s Opinion:
I think it is a good decision by EFL. Also, many referees cannot be able to see minutely who is offside and who is not. Alexander Isak may have scored a really good goal. However, he was offside. It is as simple as that. It is good that they even issued a statement unlike other leagues. The fans get horrified by some decisions sometimes. This is why, issuing a statement is always better just to be clear with the fans as well.
