Chelsea’s exodus continues as new reports claim that Tyrique George may be on his way to Bayern Munich. The deadline day is here, and Chelsea still have players to get rid of. Their need for sales sees journalists link 19-year-old Tyrique George to Bayern Munich. Are these links true? If true, will the transfer go through?
Tyrique George at Chelsea
The teenager is a graduate of Chelsea’s famous Cobham Academy. He joined the academy in 2014, when he was 8 years old. A decade later, he was playing for the U21s. During the second half of the 24/25 season, Tyrique started making appearances for Chelsea’s first team.
This season, Tyrique is considered a senior-squad player and has made just one appearance so far in the Premier League. The forward faces immense competition. Chelsea underwent an attacking revamp this summer. Following their signings and exits, the club currently have two strikers in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap; four wingers in Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Bynoe-Gittens, and Alejandro Garnacho; and a certain Cole Palmer as the 10. The club still have Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson on their books, although their moves will be confirmed within the coming hours. Also, an injury to Liam Delap forced the club to bring back Marc Guiu from his loan, meaning even more competition for Tyrique.
Considering the competition he faces, Tyrique will most definitely struggle for game time with the Blues.
Bayern Munich trying to reinforce attack
Bayern saw wingers Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, and Bryan Zaragoza leave the club this window. They’ve also let go of one of the biggest icons in their history, Thomas Müller, as his contract came to an end. The departure of Mathys Tel means the Bavarians lack a proper back-up to Harry Kane in attack. To make things worse, Bayern’s new number 10, Jamal Musiala, suffered a horror injury during the Club World Cup, which will keep him out on the sidelines for a few months at least.
Therefore, Bayern Munich have spent the entire summer trying to reinforce their attack. However, they’ve rarely been successful in actually signing their targets. They’ve targeted Nico Williams, Xavi Simons, Nick Woltemade, Luis Diaz, Alejandro Garnacho, Christopher Nkunku, Ademola Lookman, and Nicolas Jackson so far this window. They’ve only managed to sign Luis Diaz. Nicolas Jackson seemed to be moments away from confirming his move to Bavaria, but the injury to Liam Delap put the move in jeopardy.
As we reach deadline day, the club aims to complete the signing of Nicolas Jackson and, as per reports, Tyrique George.
Is Bayern Munich interested in Tyrique George?
Multiple outlets have reported that Bayern have Tyrique on their list, suggesting that there is truth to the links. However, there is a fundamental gap in both clubs’ demands. Bayern are exploring a loan deal for the Englishman, as a permanent transfer would be too expensive. Meanwhile, Chelsea are only open to a permanent deal. Bayern’s chances of negotiating a loan deal are further reduced by the fact that they’re already getting Jackson on a loan with an option to buy.
AS Roma, RB Leipzig, and two other Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the player. Therefore, Bayern signing Tyrique this window is extremely unlikely, near impossible even.
Where should Tyrique go?
Considering the competition at Chelsea, staying there is not ideal for Tyrique. Even if he gets some chances now, his game time will reduce significantly once Cole Palmer and Liam Delap return from injury. His best option, currently, could be a loan move to a mid-table Premier League club. That is, if he wishes to build a career at Chelsea in the long term.
If success with Chelsea is not a priority for the winger, a permanent move to Leipzig may be a great option. The German club is a good club for a developing youngster like Tyrique. Spending a year or two there may open his doors to a top club later on, if all goes well.
AS Roma seem to have the upper hand, though. Roma are reportedly growing confident about getting a permanent deal with a sell-on clause over the line. The Italian club is also a good option for the winger.
