Bissouma hints at possible transfer to Arsenal

The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma has hinted about his opening to a transfer move to Arsenal. The midfielder has been great for the Seagulls since his move in 2018, making 112 apps in the Premier League.

However, the Mali international have only one year left on his current contract and it is highly likely that he will move on from Amex Stadium for a new challenge elsewhere. Bissouma generated interest all over the Premier League clubs. The Merseyside club Liverpool were prime admirers of the defensive midfielder for the past 12 months. Along with them, Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa also registered interest in the 25 year old.

However, given his recent social media activity, he is more leaned to move to the North London outfit. A theory also suggests that Bissouma can be a long term replacement for Thomas Partey. In his two years at the Emirates, the Ghanaian midfielder suffered recurring injuries, halting to showcase his true self.

On the social media app Instagram, Bissouma shared two stories from the same user. The first claimed that Arsenal should sign the player (himself) ‘at all costs’. He shared another story where a suggestion pointed towards Bissouma as a potential long-term replacement for Thomas Partey. It’s only self-explanatory as he endured two injury ravaged seasons for the Gunners.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had difficulty last season playing the two defensive minded midfielders behind Martin Odegaard. A regular partnership could not be formed which hit their Top 4 hopes massively. Although Arsenal are focusing to buy a No.9 in the transfer window, a midfielder of Bissouma’s profile is also a priority.

Despite the Partey reference, Bissouma will replace someone like Xhaka or Elneny for the role. A fit partnership of Thomas Partey and Yves Bissouma will be a massive hit, no doubt.
