Rahul Dravid gives his opinion on how to tackle David Warner

India head coach, Rahul Dravid has recently spoken at a pre-match press conference ahead of the World Test Championship final.

Moreover, India and Australia will take on each other yet again after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

Under the able leadership of Rohit Sharma, India retained the trophy by defeating Australia 2-1 at home.

However, Dravid has also given his opinion on Australia opener, David Warner who can be a dangerous player for India during the one-off Test.

Apparently, Warner is the best Test batter of this generation having amassed 8,158 runs in 103 games with an average of 5.57.

However, he hasn’t been able to score a single century in his last 32 innings.

Therefore, Dravid feels that India needs to shut out Warner early on in the game.

Furthermore, in the BGT, before getting injured in the Delhi Test, Warner had amassed only 26 runs in three innings in the two Tests that he played.

Also, he had to return to Australia and there he was heavily criticized by Aussie fans who wanted him removed from the Test team.

However, selectors have once again shown trust in Warner and have selected him for the WTC as well as the first two Tests of the Ashes series.

Rahul Dravid says Warner is a class player for Australia

Says Dravid on Warner,

He (Warner) is a class player. It’s not as simple as just turning up and bowling round the wicket and getting him out. He wouldn’t have played a hundred times if it was that simple. There’s nowhere to hide anymore, everyone has very similar information about each other.

Adding further, Dravid says,

It’s just how you counter that. Every batsman will have areas they’re strong at and areas that are not probably their strengths, and David has been very successful. We know it’s a very important wicket to ge early on.
