A swap deal could take place between Barcelona and Liverpool

Raphinha

FC Barcelona are looking to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool ahead of the 2024/25 season with an agreement to send Raphinha to the Premier League. The La Liga club are in search of a left-winger for their squad and are eager to sign Luis Diaz, however, they will have to sacrifice their Brazilian to get the Liverpool winger.

Additionally, the Catalan giants had an upsetting season as they went trophy-less and therefore, will be looking to strengthen their side during this transfer window. Barcelona finished second in the La Liga this season. Moreover, they got out of the UEFA Champions League after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Therefore, they will be looking to make significant changes that could help them earn silverware next season.

Jurgen Klopp’s departure might be a key factor in this deal

Many Liverpool players were unhappy with Klopp’s exit from the club. Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk were linked with other clubs including clubs from Saudi Arabia. The Colombian international has three years left on his current contract. However, Diaz might look at Klopp’s departure as a reason to move away from Anfield. Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, believes Diaz could help solve the squad’s problems on the left wing.

Moreover, with Raphinha forcefully playing on the left wing at Barcelona, despite being a natural right winger, adds weight to this swap deal. Diaz’s technical ability and work rate has caught Deco’s attention, leaving him eager to get the Colombian to Barcelona. However, the only way they could get the Liverpool man to Spain is by letting Raphinha go. Additionally, if Salah leaves Liverpool, the Brazilian could get a starting position at Anfield.

The Barcelona winger is wanted by other Premier League clubs

According to sources, the Brazilian is keen on staying with the Spanish side, however, a deal from a Premier League club could tempt him to move. Besides Liverpool, Raphinha is also gaining interest from Arsenal. The 27-year-old scored 6 goals and gave 9 assists in twenty-eight La Liga appearances this season. Additionally, being a right winger, Raphinha might fancy moving to another club if he gets to play in his natural position. The Brazilian received several offers from Saudi Arabia last season but he rejected them. There are possibilities the Saudi clubs could return for him this summer. However, Barcelona will only release the Brazilian if they find a replacement for him.

Raphinha said he is happy at Barcelona

While speaking to reporters, the Brazilian winger said that he has not given a thought about his future. Raphinha believes he has a role to play at Camp Nou on a long-term basis.

While speaking after scoring a brace in the first leg against PSG in the Champions League, Raphinha said,

“I have a few more years on my contract and I plan to fulfil them, I have already said many times that signing for Barcelona was a dream, and I will do everything possible to stay here for many years.”

However, a move to the Premier League doesn’t seem impossible at the moment.
