Act of Nepotism Committed by Manchester United: Favoring Ipswich Striker with Famous Dad

Manchester United

It is a swamping transfer window ahead of the upcoming season. Manchester United are busy with their recruitment drive at the academy level. At just 14 years of age, Silva Mexes, the Ipswich striker, made his move permanent to Manchester United. A recent transfer strategy suggests that the Red Devils will be going for homegrown academy graduates to develop their squad. This strategy is substantiated by the new Brexit rules, which do not allow the club to sign European players under the age of 18. Moreover, the focus on recruiting homegrown (British) players will develop a sense of unity and mentality within the club. With the recent success of players like Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho at Manchester United, the young Ipswich striker is most likely a safe gamble to play with. Ineos and Manchester United co-owner are looking to balance out their net spent of 1.5B in transfer expenditure. Thus, wise transfers on players with potential who don’t cost a fortune make total sense. Manchester United and a few Premier League clubs have always had a strong chain of academy graduates.

Manchester United Favouring the Ipswich Striker?

Silva Mexes is the son of former Welsh legend, Robert Earnshaw. The striker is also a legend of English football, holding the record of being the only player to score hat-tricks in the Premier League, Divisions 1, 2 and 3, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and in an international match. Although good genes run within the family, favoritism is far from the transfer related topic. The Red Devils found themselves with no intention of spending huge sums on transfers that did not mature into something credible. The most recent transfer of Jadon Sancho that did not work out is definitely concerning for boards. Moreover, the Ipswich lad received praise at Carrinngton when he was unveiled as a new Manchester United player. The star kid posted on his Instagram account;

“Very proud moment for me and my family to announce my signing for @manchesterunited. Thank you for everyone who has helped me on my journey so far. The work starts now #manchesterunited #signing #blessed.”

Fans added their opinion on social media with some comments calling him “Another starboy!” and aplauding his potential to be a big household name. The kid has not only impressed the scouts of the Red Devils but also other scouts from other English clubs. It is a good fortune for Manchester United that Mexes sees himself as growing in a club that has struggled for the past few seasons.
