Ally McCoist claims that if he was Pep, he would not recruit “Unstoppable” £51 million player

Manchester City

Ally McCoist claims that if he was Pep Guardiola, he would not have gone through with the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolves.

In recent days, Nunes has not trained with the team since he has opted to go on strike at Wolves. It is an effort to persuade Wolves to transfer him to Manchester City, who have prioritised him as one of their top targets.

After it was revealed on Monday that the Wolves midfielder for whom City has made a bid of £51.4 million has now ceased training because he has gone on strike, the well-liked pundit expressed this opinion on talkSPORT.

Ally McCoist criticised Matheus Nunes for this. He also questioned if Pep Guardiola should even contemplate bringing him back to Manchester City.

Following the strike discovery, Ally McCoist questions whether Pep Guardiola should recruit Matheus Nunes to Man City

Journalist Zach Lowy described the 25-year-old as “Unstoppable”. It was reported on Tuesday that the treble champions’ next offer will likely secure the signing of the player to the Etihad Stadium.

But if the transfer doesn’t go through, Nunes won’t be reintegrated into the team until after the transfer window shuts as he is facing disciplinary actions from Wolves because of his behaviour.

Ally McCoist was very furious upon learning that Nunes had decided to go on strike. Nunes has done this in an effort to secure a transfer to Man City. According to Ally McCoist, he might not have signed him if he had been Pep Guardiola.

Expressing his opinion on talkSPORT, Ally McCoist said

“I think Nunes is out of order. Looking at someone like James Ward-Prowse for example who had a couple of games for Southampton already. I thought ‘brilliant attitude to play’. Clearly probably wanted to go to West Ham. Did not throw the toys out of the pram. Realised he was under contract.”

He further added saying

“If I’m Pep, I say to myself, ‘do I want someone who is willing to go on strike and not honour a contract?’ Or is he doing something…I’m not saying for a minute he’s been told to do that but he’s decided to do it. I just think if you’re a coach or a manager, or somebody at a club, you want good people.”
