Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is a midfielder in Arsenal. In an expected departure, the club released him at the end of last season. However, he expected to get his signature on the contract paper for SC Heerenveen after a successful trial. However, he has failed to agree personal terms with the Dutch club.
The north London club confirmed their retained and released academy players in the summer of 2025. The list revealed an expected departure of Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand who had to leave the club. The 22-year-midfielder spent five years at the Gunners, but was still to play for the senior team.
His release was in the influence of the squad registration rules. After aging out of the U21 category, he had the requirement of a valuable senior squad slot. A place the club likely felt was better if the vacancy went to a new signing or an established first-team player.
Trial Ends Without a Contract
Oulad M’Hand later joined SC Heerenveen and played at the Eredivisie after being released in the fall of 2025. Nevertheless, the trial term ended without receiving a contract offer, although the first impression was good.
Robin Veldman, the manager of the club, did not receive the offer to have the free-agent midfielder because of two main reasons. He never thought that Oulad M’Hand was fit to play in their first team. Moreover, he did not want his signature to derail the development line to other players in the team like Isaiah Ahmed and Nolhan Courtens.
What’s Next for the Midfielder?
As a free agent, Oulad M’Hand is not in any restriction by transfer window deadlines. Moreover, he can sign for a club at any time. His immediate future remains uncertain. However, it is just a matter of time that another opportunity could present itself in the months leading up to the January window.
