The problem with the home dressing room also impacting the home dressing room was reported to Arsenal employees at some point at around 6:45 PM.
The players of Atletico were in a challenging position as they had prepared in the rain. The Spanish team opted to terminate their practice 15 minutes earlier. They head straight to their hotel back in the team to take a shower. The reports indicate that the players were fed up and extremely enraged by the state of affairs. Spanish newspaper Marca talking about how the squad could not believe that a state-of-the-art stadium like the emirates could still lack such a facility.
Official Complaint
Atletico Madrid then lodged an official complaint to the representatives of UEFA who were in the stadium. The club president, however, Enrique Cerezo, later dismissed the incident saying he does take cold showers and that those things do happen.
Swift Resolution
Arsenal accepted that there was an issue and that it was rectified in 40 minutes of being notified about it, at around 7:25 PM. The Premier League club also apologized to their counterparts in respect to inconvenience caused. The next evening, the actual match concluded in a very strong way, as Arsenal won by 4 goals to 0, and the scandal was forgotten.
