Arsenal is having formidable start. Their defence and depth are fuel Ttitle charge. Such a strong beginning of the 2025/26 season has solidly placed Arsenal as formidable champion to reckon with. The Gunners are the new and current leaders of the premier league. They are having a four-match win streak in all competitions. A run that is anchoring on the best defender history in the league.
This great streak is not restricted to a single tournament. The squad is showing a ruthless consistency with eight wins in their first ten matches of the seasons in the Premier League, the UEFA champions league, and the Carabao cup together. Another contributing factor to this success has been a solid defence which has seen the impressive seven clean sheets in those ten matches.
A Defensive Fortress
The figures demonstrate a near impregnable defense team. David Raya is the goalkeeper who has the best save percentage in the premier league of 83.3. This is a critical figure which most certainly points towards the importance of the position. The defensive set up in front of him has been excellent. Jurrien Timber has been involved in more duels (51), tackles (31), Gabriel Magalhaes has the highest duel success rate (67.65%), and is the only player to have played all the minutes of the campaign to date. This teamwork has predetermined the fact that Arsenal is extremely hard to dissect.
Shared Threat in Attack
Whereas defence has been exceptional, the attack has been a collective effort. The real goalscoring weight is divisible between Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, and Gabriel Martinelli being on the same level of three goals in all competitions. Creative production has also been decentralised with 14 other players already scoring a goal or an assist this season.
A Strategic Rotation and Depth
Manager Mikel Arteta can seemingly be learning how to execute the art of squad rotation. This is the requirement due to the various competitions. The manager has yet to select the same starting lineup in successive matches this season with an average of 3.8 changes per match. A better squad will assist this plan. Arteta himself has stated that the strength of his bench is dramatically improving since last season when his bench was full of with academic players. However, now he has the likes of Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze to fall upon.
Author’s Opinion
This will be testing in the near future though, as they are facing a difficult time with some of their most important players such as captain Martin Odegaard and Noni Maduenke. They are out of commission with knee injuries until, at least, the end of November. The manner in which the squad will overcome these absences will be critical in ensuring their momentum.
