English Premier League side Arsenal have shocked the world and hijacked the transfer of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. According to the latest news, Eberechi Eze has immediately said ‘yes’ to Arsenal after the club directly called him for the transfer. Due to this unexpected twist, Tottenham Hotspur fans are in a complete state of disbelief. The Arsenal fans also haven’t been able to digest the good news yet. Even in the last week, Spurs were the clear favourites to sign Eze from Crystal Palace. Reports have claimed that the player also verbally agreed to the club. But Arsenal club officials once again proved this season that they won’t miss out on any of their shortlisted targets. Although there is no official confirmation but Arsenal fans can consider Eberechi Eze as an Arsenal footballer from now on.
Arsenal Won the North London Derby Outside the Pitch
Although Spurs defeated Arsenal in the friendly North London Derby during the pre-season tour in Asia, the Gunners have given a solid checkmate. Arsenal have agreed to pay a £67.5 million transfer fee for Eberechi Eze. Arsenal were behind this deal long before Tottenham’s entry. However, the Gunners didn’t act quickly in the early stages as the club was busier in securing the deal of Viktor Gyokeres. After successfully signing Gyokeres, it seemed that Arsenal had decided not to sign Eze. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur became more interested in the 27-year-old attacker. And after the ACL injury of James Maddison, Spurs decided to lock in Eberechi Eze as soon as possible. Things were going on the right track but overconfident Spurs didn’t hurry enough. Now, out of nowhere Arsenal have convinced Eze to sign for him. Why did Arsenal suddenly act faster than Spurs? Football pundits think that the injury of Kai Havertz against Manchester United has turned into a blessing in disguise for the club. Due to this reason, Eberechi Eze became sure of his game time and agreed to sign for his childhood club. According to multiple sources, Arsenal and Crystal Palace decided to seal the deal under £60 million transfer fee. But that wasn’t all. Arsenal have agreed to pay an extra bonus of £7.5 million.
Not a New Arrival, This is a Homecoming for Eberechi Eze
Eberechi Eze is a proud Gunner at heart. He began his football journey at the Arsenal academy. He joined the Arsenal youth project back in 2006 and spent 5 years at the club. In 2011, Eze joined the Fulham youth team. Then, he moved to Reading in the 2013-14 season. From there, he joined the U-18 side of Millwall. All of these moves were free transfers. Through another free transfer, Eze joined the U-23 side of QPR. For the first time, Eberechi Eze unlocked his new potential at that club. He was promoted to the main team of QPR. But the club loaned him out to Wycombe in that very season. The first big professional transfer in Eze’s career happened in 2020 when Crystal Palace bought him for just a £19.5 million transfer fee. Since then, Eberechi Eze has been a Crystal Palace footballer till date. During his days in QPR, Eze played 112 matches and scored 20 goals. Including the last match against Chelsea, Eberechi Eze has featured in 169 games for Crystal Palace. In these 169 appearances, he has registered 40 goals and 28 assists so far. He hit his prime in the last season where he bagged 8 goals and 8 assists in the EPL. He played a crucial part in the Eagles’ historic FA Cup triumph. Eze scored 4 goals in 5 matches. He brings his high skill sets and goal-scoring ability with him at Arsenal.
Author’s Note: Both Arsenal and Eze are Happy with This Transfer
When Arsenal academy decided to release a 13-year-old boy, Eberechi Eze has revealed that he felt heartbroken at that moment. But he made a promise of returning to Arsenal as he believes that he has some unfinished business here. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta will be the happiest man on earth now. Even after securing a lucky victory over Manchester United, Arteta clearly expressed his demand to sign a top attacker. With this signing of Eberechi Eze, Arsenal now have no reason not to win the league title this year.
