Arsenal have been linked with Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz for a long time now. The Gunners are in search of the new midfielder as it has been revealed that Thomas Partey will be heading away from the club. Earlier, the Premier League runner ups were heavily linked with Martin Zubimendi. However the Spaniard is not interested in leaving Spain. This has caused Arsenal to focus all their attention on 26 year old midfielder.
The Gunners have been linked with Douglas Luiz for a very long time. Arsenal previously went after the Brazilian midfielder and also had submitted potential bids to Villa in the past. However Villa were not convinced with the £25 million and £30 million bids submitted by Gunners.
Aston Villa had a very good season under Unai Emery. They will be returning to champions league football after very long time. The Villans have no intention of letting an important player like Luiz go. However if they have to sell him, they will demand the full price of £50 million. Luiz had a very good season and was able to achieve an impressive figure. The 26 year old midfielder achieved double figures in terms of both goals and assists across all competitions. These performances have gained a lot of attention and many big clubs across europe are interested in Brazilian’s services.
What did Arsenal offer for Luiz
Arsenal are very keen to pair the brazilian international with Declan Rice next season. Sporting director Edu has even offered Emile Smith Rowe to Villa in a swap deal. However Villa are not convinced with this move. The Gunners are now reported to offer Villa three players in exchange of Luiz.
Arsenal are hoping to not get rejected again in an effort to sign Luiz. The Gunners could offer two midfielders and one defender to Villa in an attempt to receive Brazilian’s signature. One of the two midfielders has already been revealed. Along with Smith Rowe, Arsenal could also offer Fabio Vieira. Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been reported to make his way away from Emirates. The Ukrainian could also be used in a swap deal.
However it would be very difficult for Arsenal to be able to achieve the deal. Juventus are reported very close to Douglas Luiz. The Serie A giants have offered two superstars along with big money. Recently FC Barcelona have also been linked with Luiz and we may see more clubs linked in upcoming days.
Juventus looking strong to sign Luiz
Juventus have submitted a strong offer to Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz. The Serie A giants are ready to pay €20 million for Luiz along with two superstars. Juve have offered Weston McKennie Samuel Iling Junior to Aston Villa. It is believed that the Italian club is very close to Luiz and may advance the deal very soon. According to reports, Juventus have upper hand over Arsenal. It would be interesting to see if Arsenal are able to hijack Juventus target Douglas Luiz. Along with these two clubs, Barcelona are also linked with Brazilian midfielder.
Douglas Luiz offered to Barcelona
Luiz’s agent has offered him to Barcelona according to the SPORT. Barcelona want to strengthen the midfield department and are monitoring the available options. Luiz’s agents have contacted Deco who is Barca’s sporting director. However Barcelona may face some difficulties in signing the Brazilian as they are currently facing financial crises. Deco admires Luiz a lot and will love to have him at the club. He may replace Frenkie De Jong who has not met the expectations Barca had from him. As per now only Arsenal and Juventus are involved in the race.
