Bundesliga winner who rejected Liverpool shows signs of joining Chelsea

Chelsea with new manager are on a venture to rebuild their squad. Italian boss Enzo Maresca will start on July 1st. One key area Chelsea are willing to strengthen is their defense. After the departure of Thiago Silva, Chelsea are lacking a true commander in the backline, due to which a promising defender like Jonathan Tah has been spotted to fill in the missing piece. The 28-year-old defender is highly in praise of the world’s most-in-demand boss, Xabi Alonso. Bayer Leverkusen’s historic run is something short of a mystery, and Tah has been nothing short of a magic wand. He has been exceptional in the line of defense, featuring 48 times and even contributing six goals. He is also included in the provisional squad of the German national team for the upcoming Euros and might start due to his impressive performance in the 23/24 season.

Jonathan Tah favours Chelsea over Liverpool

Tah has been a loyal member of the German club and has always found himself content with his position. Born in Hamburg, Germany he has always found comfort in staying within the country’s periphery. He started his career with his boyhood club Hamburger SV and then went on to make over 350 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen. When Klopp showed his interest for the player in 2017 to strengthen his backline, Tah said;

 “I am very happy at Bayer Leverkusen. I don’t want to leave.”

Tah recently found Bundesliga success after years of service with 28 victories and 6 draws without a single defeat. He also won the DFB-Pokal against FC Kaiserslautern and narrowly missed the UEFA Europa League. After all these success, he finally feels worthy and capable of a new challenge and Premier League with high salary is always an attraction. Chelsea might just be the place for Jonathan Tah with enough liberty under new manager. A senior player like him is most likely to receive enough authority and will do wonders for the re-establishment.

Xabi Alonso praised the deender saying;

“Overall, Jonha is performing at the highest level and I am really happy for him because he deserves all the praise and all the good moments he’s living – that he keeps playing for us and happily for the national team as well. I think he is one of the world’s best defenders.”
