Casemiro faces uncertain future at Manchester United

Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano has revealed a worrying update about future of Casemiro at Manchester United.

Contract talks hit a wall

Man United’s rebuild under the new management hasn’t just been about new faces. It’s also been about cutting costs. After a summer clear-out that saw several first-team players leave, the club continues to tighten its wage bill. Reports suggest that even Harry Maguire’s contract extension is being discussed only if he agrees to a pay cut.

Now, Casemiro finds himself in the middle of this financial reshuffle. His current deal runs until next summer, yet the club hasn’t made any move to renew it. As per Fabrizio Romano, there have been no talks from United’s side. That has raised eyebrows given the player’s importance to the team. Romano suggested that there is a “real possibility” the Brazilian will leave if no deal is made shortly.

Casemiro & Manchester United set for talks on player’s future

The moment Casemiro made his way from Real Madrid to Utd, he was an instant source of power and security for the weak Man Utd team. He was very soon accepted by the fans as the very factor lacking in the middle of the park.

The player got off to such a bright start, but then he got worse. The critics did not hesitate to point their fingers at him. Nevertheless, he has managed to get back into his good graces under Ruben Amorim. He has been a major force in the midfield again with much more energy.

Then, his presence in six PL matches along with one goal scored this season suggest that he is still very much capable of making big contributions. But, the silence from Man Utd’s boardroom, in spite of his comeback, shows that perhaps his fate is already decided at another club.

Author’s Opinion:

Casemiro deserves more clarity from Man Utd. Quality, fight, and leadership have all been showed by him even in the difficult times. He is not only going to be a midfielder lost to the club, but also one of the very few proven winners left in the locker room.
