Chelsea defender facing problems to join West Ham

Chelsea

Chelsea are very busy in the transfer market. The Blues already spend close to 150M in this transfer market to strengthen the squad depth. While new players are coming to join the club, few are likely to leave in the summer, including Trevoh Chalobah, Cesare Casadei, and David Datro Fofana. These players might leave Stamford Bridge this summer. But Trevoh Chalobah is facing to move to a new club. This Chelsea defender facing problems joining another Premier League side West Ham.

Trevoh Chalobah is a Chelsea graduate, who started his career in the Chelsea academy. After graduating from the Chelsea academy, the 25-year-old completed three loan spells. Finally, Chalobah made his Chelsea senior team debut in 2021 against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup. Over the last three seasons, the 25-year-old made 80 appearances for the Blues. But last season was not particularly good for Chalobah. He only managed to make 17 appearances across all competitions for the Blues. Now Chelsea are willing to sell him in this transfer market, and another London club West Ham is very much interested in signing him.

Last season, West Ham conceded 74 goals last season, which is the fourth worst tally in the Premier League, staying behind only the relegated teams. So, the Club wants to improve the backline this season. West Ham already completed the signing of last season’s Wolves captain Max Kilman for the center defender position. But still, the Hammers are looking for another defender apart from Max Kilman. Trevoh Chalobah is one of the players that they are targeting right now. However, two main things stop Chelsea midfielder Chalobah from joining West Ham.

The first reason is the high wages of Trevoh Chalobah. The 25-year-old gets paid 80k per week at Chelsea, and this is very high for West Ham. West Ham may not be able to pay that amount of wages for one single player. So, this creates a problem for West Ham to bring him in this summer.

Another problem is that Trevoh Chalobah wants to join a club that can offer him European football this season. But as West Ham is out of any European football this season, Trevoh Chalobah’s move might not happen this season. These are two things that stopped the 25-year-old join the Hammers.
