Chelsea lost against Fulham in an exciting manner

Chelsea had led at some point in the game by Cole Palmer in the 16th minute of play. But Fulham made a comeback by equalizing with Harry Wilson’s goal in the 82nd minute of play. It took the game through a winning substitute Rodrigo Muniz in the 95th minute of play.

The loss snapped Chelsea’s nine-straight games unbeaten in the Premier League and marked their first ever loss at home to Fulham in 45 years.

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca was calling on his team to get as quickly back up to speed as possible and prepare for the game against Ipswich Town.

This left Fulham at an eighth place position in the league table, and they were level on points with Manchester City. The team surpassed Tottenham and Manchester United.

Though, Fulham had otherwise planned. Marco Silva’s side showed resilience and gradually improved for the second half.

What really happened?

The turning point came in the 82nd minute when Harry Wilson scored a goal. Then he fired an unstoppable shot past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, levelling the score at 1-1.

This equaliser galvanised Fulham, who pressed aggressively in search of a winner. And with the dying embers of stoppage time, it was Rodrigo Muniz who punished a defensive lapse.

He rose highest to meet the perfect cross from Andreas Pereira and headed the ball into the net to give Fulham its first win at Stamford Bridge in 45 years. The traveling fans erupted in celebration, while Chelsea’s players remained stunned.

Fulham climbed to eighth in the table with this result. Now they are level on points with Manchester City.They have shown a clear declaration of its intentions to fight for a spot in Europe.

This win to Fulham was a very important victory in their season and symbolic of their win against the London rivals whom, throughout history, they failed to beat on their home soil.
