Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher still facing uncertainty

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is facing uncertainty about his future with the Blues. The English international joined Chelsea in 2019 but mainly spent his time with various clubs on loan spells. Finally, Gallagher becomes the first-team player from the start of the 2022 season. The 24-year-old made 95 appearances over the last two seasons, including 50 appearances last season. Gallagher appeared in 37 matches out of 38 in the last Premier League season for the Blues, scored 7 goals, and registered 9 assists.

Despite his last two seasons with the Blues, Conor Gallagher could leave Chelsea in the summer. The English international Conor Gallagher might find it hard to get more playing time in the upcoming Premier League season. Recently Chelsea appointed former Leicester City boss Enzo Mareesca as their new head coach for their upcoming seasons. Enzo Maresca brought former Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall earlier this month. That means that Conor Gallagher might get less playing time with Chelsea and Maresca might choose Kiernan over Gallagher for the center-midfielder position.

According to the news of Football London, Chelsea also recalled Lesley Ugochukwu from the France Olympic squad. Ugochukwu is one of the players selected for the France squad for the upcoming Olympics this month. Any club could recall its players from the national team squad for this particular tournament. So, Chelsea recalled their French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu. So it is expected that the Blues want him in the pre-season and Enzo Maresca’s side is planning to give more time to the Frenchman. The FFF recently gave their statement about the departure of the 20-year-old Lesley Ugochukwu from the French national team and FFF said,

“The midfielder is leaving the French Olympic Team this Friday, July 19, and will not be among the reserves for the Paris 2024 Olympic tournament. Following a request from Chelsea FC, Lesley Ugochukwu will permanently leave the French Olympic football team and will no longer be available as a reserve.”

The future of Conor Gallagher with Chelsea

Conor Gallagher might leave the club in the summer. Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are very much interested in signing the 24-year-old if Chelsea releases him in the summer. It will be very difficult for Conor Gallagher to get sufficient playing time under the new manager. And as the new players are joining Chelsea and Players coming back from loan spells, the English International might get very little Playing time under Enzo Maresca. As Chelsea’s new boss Enzo Maresca had already worked with Kiernan Dewsburry-Hall, he might choose Kiernan over any other midfielder. And no doubt Kiernan had a great last season, scored 12 goals, and registered 15 assists in 49 matches last season for Leicester City, which is very impressive.

The Blues will start their pre-season campaign on 25th July against Wrexham in California, USA. Enzo Maresca is determined to find out the best talents in the pre-season tour. The new Chelsea boss wants to see which player fits his team well. After the preseason tour, Chelsea will start their Premier League campaign against last season’s Premier League champion Manchester City. Chelsea fans are hoping for a fresh start with their new manager.
