The Blues are reported to try and convince Enzo Fernandez to stay for pre-season with club rather than going to Olympic games with Argentina in the summer.
Enzo Maresca signed a three year deal with Leicester last year. He showed his magic and helped Leicester earn promotion back to Premier League. However, the Italian is looking for bigger challenges and will be leaving King Power Stadium only after a year. Maresca’s official announcement by Chelsea is regarded as just a matter of time. According to Sky Sports, Maresca has agreed a 5 year deal with Chelsea.
With Maresca taking charge, Chelsea want all their players to be ready ahead of next season. After the Euros and Copa America, the pre-season games will begin to try and test new formations and preparations of next season. However there will be Olympic games where some stars will want to represent their nation. Enzo Fernandez who is a key player for Argentina is willing to represent them in Olympics. However Chelsea don’t want him to join his country and rather play with them in pre-season.
Chelsea to try and convince Enzo Fernandez to stay with club
Enzo Fernandez is important player for both club and country. He played a crucial role for Argentina in 2022 World Cup. Argentina were crowned champions of world. Fernandez playing crucial role throughout the tournament earned Best Young Player award. The 23 year old midfielder has made 21 appearances for the country till now. He is looking forward to represent them again in Copa America and is willing to continue in Olympic games too.
Chelsea have began the rebuilding of the team. Maresca will try to tell the club about his preferred players. Along with incomings and outgoings in the transfer window, Chelsea will want Enzo Maresca to try and adapt to the new environment as soon as possible. The Italian manger will try his tactics and prepare for the next season in the pre-season games. The 44 year old manager will appreciate if all the players are available to try and update his system.
The Blues are reported to hold a meeting with Fernandez. Conor Gallagher is heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. Every player wants to represent their nation whenever they can. A player like Enzo Fernandez who is regular starter for his nation will definately want to give his all for the country. However Fernandez has not been very fit as he recently suffered an injury. The 23 year old midfielder also underwent a surgery and missed the last matches with Chelsea. He is willing to play Copa America quickly followed by Olympics. Chelsea sense this as a concern as they want Fernandez to focus on the club career. Chelsea could not be proved wrong as they are doing what is best for club’s interest. However it will be hard to convince Fernandez and the decision will be taken based on agreement by the both parties involved.
