Dutch legend Ronald Koeman claims that Cody Gakpo is still not settled at Liverpool and with time he will get use to of English top-flight football.

Reds signed the 23-year-old from PSV Eindhoven for £37 million in the last January transfer window. However Gakpo has not been at his usual best lately as he is adapting to new atmosphere in England.

His fellow countrymen Ronald Koeman defended the youngster during the international break last week. He claims that Gakpo is still young and needs time to develop further.

Koeman also suggested that Cody Gakpo showed great character when he joined a struggling Liverpool side last January. He said :-

“You have to understand that Gakpo is still a young player.

“When he first went to Liverpool, the team was struggling and that made it difficult for him to make a quick impact.

“If you join a team that is doing well, then you have a chance to come in when the moment is right, but Liverpool needed something quickly and that was tough.

“You have to give him that time to develop and to adapt to the Premier League because it’s a different level.”

However in the very less time he spend at Anfield, Gakpo has been quite versatile for manager Jurgen Klopp. This season, he played in different roles in last match for the Reds.

Koeman believes the fact that the youngster will flourish at Anfield in future but he needs time to settle down. Gakpo is already showing signs of maturity for Liverpool and Klopp very much aware of his real potentiality.
