Cunha, Leon Join Manchester United for Pre-Season Training

Manchester United

Latest signings, Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, have officially joined the season’s first training session for Manchester United. Under their Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim, the first batch of the Red Devils arrived at Carrington. After the disastrous season last year, Manchester United are in a hurry to begin their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season. The players began to train as Ruben Amorim had a strict eye on every one of them on the very first day. Other players and coaching staff welcomed the new teammates Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon at the team canteen first. After the greetings, players were seen testing their physical status at the gym. This was the first get-together of Manchester United players after the vacation. Manchester United are all set to play against Leeds United in their first pre-season friendly on 19th July.

Devil’s Duty: Cunha & Leon are Official Manchester United Players

After keeping the rumour an open secret for months, Manchester United have officially secured the services of former Wolves forward, Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian was a top priority for Manchester United. He has joined Manchester United after spending a brilliant season at Wolves. He played in 33 matches in the EPL. The highly skillful customer registered 15 goals and 6 assists in the league. Cunha also bagged 2 goals in 2 matches for Wolves in the FA Cup. Although he has more to offer in scoring but his impact while attacking is something to notice. Cunha already showed his capability to Manchester United fans by scoring 1 and assisting 1 against them last season. While the club is looking to bring in another quality forward, Ruben Amorim will be relying a lot on Matheus Cunha. On the other hand, Diego Basilio Leon Blanco is the latest wonderkid to join Manchester United. As a matter of fact, Leon has become the first-ever Paraguayan to sign for Manchester United. The left-back has joined the English club from Cerro Porteno. The 18-year-old prodigy has already impressed his boss in the very first training session. In his last season, he has averaged 3.25 final third entries. This has surely made him a potential overlapping left-back.

Attendance Under Amorim: Who Was Present and Who Was Not?

It is clear that Ruben Amorim doesn’t want to delay Manchester United’s preparations. After a few weeks of holidays, Manchester United informed their players to attend the pre-season training this week. Other than Cunha and Leon, a lot of players have joined the team. Amad, Heaton, Ayden Heaven, Kobbie Mainoo, and Zirkzee were all present. Among the senior names, Matthijs De Ligt, Mazraoui, Andre Onana, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount were also there. The rest of the team will join the training session as soon as possible. Meanwhile, three ‘expected’ names were absent on the first day of practice. After ending their respective loan spells at Aston Villa and Chelsea, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho didn’t join. Another significant absence was from Alejandro Garnacho. While Rashford wants a Barcelona move, Juventus have denied the chances of signing Jadon Sancho. Italian Champions Napoli have enquired about Manchester United’s Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho. Things are already getting interesting in Manchester United’s camp.

Author’s Note

Ruben Amorim is desperate to bring back the glory days at Old Trafford. The former Sporting Lisbon manager took charge of the team in midseason. He didn’t have much to improvise with the squad. If we take Manchester United’s performance after Amorim’s arrival, it was an uphill journey. Amorim’s Manchester United defeated Manchester City. The team also made a historic comeback against Lyon in the UEFA Europa League semifinal. Amorim’s side had the opportunity to save the season. But Tottenham Hotspur completely outplayed Manchester United in the final. With some new faces, Manchester United want to turn things around this season.
