Enzo Maresca really happy and excited to start at Stamford bridge

The Enzo Maresca saga to Chelsea ends with west Londoners confirming the Italian’s arrival on Monday. Mauricio Pochettino’s stint was short, but with his second half of the season, Chelsea got the podium for European football. The former Leicester City manager had an amazing season at the Championship, reviving them back to the top flight. He was also the manager of the Elite Development Squad at Manchester City, so a similar style to that of Pep Guardiola can be observed. This gives Todd Boehly a headstart of hope for the upcoming season. The American has never been shy about spending huge sums for the betterment of the squad and team. Enzo Marseca might just be the missing piece that Boehly is looking for at Chelsea. There is a ray of hope at Stamford Bridge with the impulsive investments they have made, along with the promising academy graduates.

A new Chelsea Squad: Enzo Maresca starting from scratch?

Chelsea has been witnessing a new low since Roman Abramovic decided to sell the club. With purchases that couldn’t live up to expectations or the price tag, Enzo Maresca has a difficult job on his shoulders. Maresca has a five-year deal contract to his name; however, sacking managers before their tenure is not something oblivious in the history of Chelsea and their board. The Italian is excited to work with a young squad that boasts potential, but unlocking a few could be difficult. Some players are easy to coordinate with as they have already been under his guidance. Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia will be starting and most likely making headlines. They have had a good relationship since their time at Manchester City. Another player that is Maresca keen on working with is goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, whom he ratres highly.

Maresca is here to make a name for himself in West London. He wishes to be seen. Chelsea has lacked a dominant and proper striker since Diego Costa. Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan is also on the radar of the Italians. He is set to start by July 1 and a new man on the sidelines for the Blues is not something very shocking. Maresca is most likely to be backed by the American owner, and this time it is expected that the transfers will be way more wise than before.

Ben Jacobs’ verdict on Maresca being the missing piece

Ben Jacobs tweeted his fair share on X claiming why Enzo Maresca is “Unanimous” choice for Chelsea. He further added on the background saying;

“Maresca stood out because of his possession-based style. Experience in English football seen as key. Chelsea struck by his ‘champions mentality’. Maresca is also understood to have displayed extensive squad knowledge at interview and was impressed with the talent and balance at the club.

“Maresca’s thirst for knowledge impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy. He even started watching last season’s games whilst on holiday in Marbella ahead of getting the job. Maresca has already asked for data access to provide performance analysis on every player from youth level to the the first team, as well as full details of everyone working at Cobham. This meticulous approach was the same at Leicester.”

Willy Caballero will be joining the Italian at Stamford Bridge as his assistant. Only time will tell which student of Pep’s amongst Kompany, Arteta and Enzo Maresca performs the best in Europe.
