West Ham United have started their preparations for the next season. The club parted ways with David Moyes after a long spell of five years. Julen Lopetegui has replaced Moyes and is looking forward to transform the London based club. The Spaniard has completed the first signing of the season. West Ham have signed south american winger Luis Guilherme. The Hammers are now linked to bring another South American winger Jhon Arias. It is reported that we could soon witness Arias arriving to Premier League as the talks have now advanced between the parties involved.
Hammers making bid for Arias
West Ham will be looking after various attacking options in the transfer window. They have already began thier activity by signing 18 year old brazilian talent from Palmeiras. Along with him, the Hammers want to add one more south american star to their attacking unit.
Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matias Soule were linked with Hammers in the recent weeks. Along with these two fantastic attackers, West Ham were also linked with their London rival Chelsea’s star. Raheem Sterling has been linked with a potential move to Hammers. However it is Jhon Arias who is making all the headlines right now.
According to RTI Esporte, West Ham have submitted a bid of £10.9 million to Fluminense. However it is reported that the bid could rise and reach to around £12.6 million if all the requirements are met. If Arias is able to achieve all the objectives, Fluminense will recieve future addition of £1.6 million. This will result in total amount of £14 million if Hammers decide to sign Arias.
West Ham are not the only premier league club interested in Arias. Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Leicester City have all expressed there interest in the Columbian winger. However it is believed that West Ham’s proposal is way more superior than any of those clubs which is a huge positive for the London club.
What will Jhon Arias bring to West Ham
Jhon Arias is 26 year old Columbian winger who plays currently for Fluminense. Arias plays exceptionally well on the right wing which is his natural position. However the Columbian international is widely adaptive. The 26 year old winger is effective on the right flank as well as can adapt and play as a attacking midfielder too. This will open up a wide range of options for Julen Lopetegui. The Spanish manager can make most of his versatility and push Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen further ahead. This could prove as an positive change for Hammers as Danny Ings and Michail Antonio have failed to deliever recently.
Arias played 27 matches last season for Fluminense across all competition. The winger was able to score 11 goals in those appearances. Ever since his arrival to Fluminense in 2021, Arias has managed to make 168 appearances. He has scored 35 times and assisted 38 times for the Brazilian club. Therefore Hammers will hope Arias will achieve numbers like this on regular basis if they sign him.
West Ham announce their new signing Luis Guilherme
West Ham have announced the signing of 18 year old Brazilian talent. They have secured there first signing of the season after signing Guilherme from Palmeiras. The Brazilian took time to speak about the new step in his career. Guilherme seems very happy to get the opportunity to represent West Ham.
“I also want to thank everyone at West Ham, particularly Tim and his team who came to Brazil, and not only talked with me, but also with my family. They presented the project, and both my family and I liked it” – Luis Guilherme after signing as new West Ham player.
Guilherme is looking forward to have great time with Hammers. It would be intersting to see how Lopetegui uses him in his first season as West Ham manager.
