Have Manchester United Done Enough in the Transfer Window?

Manchester United

The summer transfer window is officially over and once again Manchester United have already hit the rock bottom. Manchester United began their season with high hopes after signing some top footballers this summer. But, in the very first match Manchester United lost against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Although it is true that Manchester United were indeed the better side in that match. But the Red Devils found it difficult again in the next two matches. After a draw against Fulham and a shocking defeat against a fourth-tier English club in the Carabao Cup, Manchester United fans are furious over the new signings already. The new footballers arriving in this transfer window are already down the pecking order.

How did Manchester United do in this Transfer Window?

To be honest, for the first time in recent years, Manchester United board members didn’t hold back while spending big. Under the guidance of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United made wholesome changes in the upfront. The club had a long saga in buying Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford. A time occurred when everyone thought that Manchester United would fail to sign him ultimately. But Mbuemo is now officially a Manchester United footballer. The Red Devils didn’t have to work much to bring in Mateus Cunha from Wolves. Then happened the tug of war between the devils and the magpies. Newcastle United were closing in on getting Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig as the potential replacement for Alexander Isak. But Manchester United proved to all that they still are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Sesko immediately rejected his move to Newcastle when Manchester United submitted their official bid for him. Finally, the Red Devils won the battle of ego and Sesko joined them as their new box striker. With these incomings, Manchester United had to sell the previous upfront and they did that. Hoijlund joined Napoli on loan with a buy clause. Antony finally signed for Real Betis on a permanent deal. Alejandro Garnacho has also joined Chelsea after a long saga. While Sancho has joined Aston Villa on loan, Manchester United have denied Mainoo’s request for a loan move.

Manchester United have Finally Signed a Custodian

Manchester United didn’t have a lot to do in the midfield as Amorim has his faith in the players. But, the serious concern in the goalkeeping position has become the biggest issue in this whole squad. The club clearly don’t rely on Andre Onana anymore and Amorim has already benched him thrice. Second-choice goalkeeper Bayindir has also fumbled quite a lot. The fans have repeatedly requested the club to buy a new goalkeeper. On the last day of this summer transfer window, Manchester United have chosen young Belgian talent Senne Lammens over Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emi Martinez. Lammens is expected to make his debut against arch rivals Manchester City. Likewise, Donnarumma will also begin his Manchester City journey against the Red Devils.

The Manchester United Front Three Need to Make Impacts Now

When the 13-time Premier League champions signed three fine forwards in a single transfer window this season, Manchester United fans somewhat hoped for a turnaround. It is true that Cunha, Mbuemo and Sesko are great individual talents of this era, but they have not clicked yet. Among these three, only Cunha has shown his hunger and passion. Mbuemo has finally scored against Burnley but he still needs to contribute more. The biggest signing of this transfer window, Benjamin Sesko hasn’t found the net yet. It seems that he is still unfit to play a full 90-minutes match. Apart from the goalkeeping blunders, the main concern of this club has become converting the chances. Manchester United is creating decent chances from the back but the upfront are immensely failing to score goals. If Manchester United want to achieve their targets this season, this newly created high-profile frontline needs to upgrade their games and start scoring on a regular basis. Otherwise, Manchester United will experience another horrific season.
