End of an era came into being with German boss Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool after an eight-year stint. Under the new manager, Arne Slot, Liverpool will go through a massive reconstruction on and off the field. A major probing crisis has been lurking regarding the defense of the club. With the departure of Joel Matip, there is a need for an instant replacement in the center back. Young and promising defender from Lille, Lery Yoro, is in talks as the most recent target for Liverpool during the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old in the market already has a high price tag attached to his name. He is among the favorites to join Merseyside, along with a few others. It will be a testament to see who compliments club legend Virgil van Dijk. Filling the shoes of Matip while competing with Konate for the first team opportunity will not be easy.
What lies ahead for Lery Yoro other than Liverpool?
The French defender is aware of the hype circulating around him. He is keen on and interested in the offers from the other clubs. Meanwhile, other than Lliverpool, Spanish giants Real Madrid and French capital Paris Saint-Germain have also marked Lery Yoro on their transfer lists. Any offer from Real Madrid is hard to reject, and with them having the possibility of winning another UCL, the transfer becomes all the more tempting. PSG, on the other hand, is known to pick up young talents within the leagues. A report by Lee Conor of TBR Football claims that Madrid can fetch Yoro for 30 million euros.
It is hard to get a deal done by Liverpool with the clout circulating around. Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has drawn comparisons between the young defender and William Saliba. He said;
“There are similarities in the way Van Dijk plays. Saliba now as well the way he plays there’s the way they’re kind of just kind of calmness under pressure. Don’t ever really seem fazed. They’re good at covering, yeah so some similar traits.There’s a young boy at Lille, Leny Yoro He’s going to be one of the best centre backs about as well. I’ve seen similar traits. He’s going to be a top defender”
Whether a deal with Liverpool manifests, there is no doubt that Lery Yoro is leaving Lille at any time soon.
