Liverpool Had the Last Laugh Against Burnley as Salah Climbs Up

Resilient Burnley lost in the dying minutes as Liverpool earned a hard-fought victory as Mohammed Salah converted from the spot. Liverpool resumed their Premier League hunt after the international break last night. But head coach Arne Slot fielded the team without their latest signing, Alexander Isak. After the defeat against Manchester United, Burnley put up a solid defensive brilliance even after going down to 10 men. On the other hand, Liverpool attackers kept on doing everything possible to open the scoresheet. But the host remained tight until Hannibal conceded a very unfortunate penalty. Mohammed Salah stepped up and sealed the match for the Reds.

This Liverpool Side Always Find a Way to Win Matches

Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp were a hard team to beat. But since the arrival of Arne Slot, it has become even harder to break this Liverpool team. In most of the matches, Liverpool secure all the three points quite easily. But football becomes tough sometimes. Last night was another example of that. Even with this prime Liverpool team, Arne Slot became clueless. If Hannibal hadn’t given away that easy penalty, Liverpool would have had to come back home with just 1 point. Just after beating Arsenal, the Reds had another narrow margin win this time. While they were the better team against the Gunners, Liverpool were clearly struggling against Burnley. Slot made a surprising decision by not keeping Isak in the squad. But Hugo Ekitike absolutely had a game to forget. Slot had to sub him off with Federico Chiesa who nearly scored with a volley. Liverpool’s midfielders were trying their best to break the wall of Burnley footballers. Dominik Szoboslai was having a dream week before this match. First, he scored the winner with a Puskas worthy free-kick against Arsenal. Then, he got to fulfill his childhood dream of playing against his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. But, he didn’t have any joy against Burnley last night. On the other hand, Burnley footballers didn’t commit ‘Park the Bus’ against the Merseyside club. Instead, they repeatedly tried to upset Liverpool’s highline with quick counter attacks.

Mohammed Salah Delivered Once Again for Liverpool

Were the Liverpool supporters in any doubt over Salah’s conversion from the spot kick? The Liverpool players weren’t at least. Although it was Salah’s first penalty kick since his shocking miss against Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield Final. As they say, accidents happen in football. The Egyptian King came in clutch once again to help his team out. During the last minute of the added time, Burnley’s Hannibal gave away a penalty. Jeremy Frimpong’s shot touched his hand in an awkward position in the box. The referee awarded a penalty without giving any second thoughts. Even Hannibal was seen covering his face in utter shame. But this was the moment for Salah. From a Chelsea reject, Salah is now a living legend for Liverpool. To add more, Salah is already widely regarded as one of the greatest to play in the English Premier League. But last night, he touched another milestone with his goal. Mohammed Salah has now become the fourth-highest goalscorer in the league’s history. He has taken over Andy Cole and is now just a few goals behind third-ranked Wayne Rooney. The supporters are hoping to see him dethrone Rooney very soon.

Liverpool are Patient with Wirtz and Ekitike

Since signing for Liverpool after a record transfer fee, Florian Wirtz had his best game last night. The German was under heavy criticism over the last few weeks where many considered him a flop already. But the club was patient from the start. After scoring a beautiful free kick in the international break, Wirtz has stood out as the best player on the pitch for Liverpool against Burnley. On the other hand, Ekitike had a bad game as many believe Isak will surely bench him. But Arne Slot has clarified that Hugo Ekitike is a crucial part of his plans.
