Liverpool will be undergoing management change at the end of the season. Arne Slot has been reported to take charge of Anfield. Along with manager, the reds will be moving strongly in the market too. Recently Liverpool have been reported to sign Antonio Silva at the end of this season.
Jurgen Kloop will receive farewell from Liverpool fans on the last match of the Premier League. The German manager has received a lot of respect from the fans. His 9 year spell with Liverpool will always go down as one of the best in Liverpool’s history. However in terms of winning trophies, Kloop was unlucky on various occasions. He lost many of his titles to Manchester City and Real Madrid more than one time. Despite that fact, Kloop has earned a lot of respect and it will be a hugely emotional farewell on Sunday.
Arne Slot who is currently managing Feyenoord is set to replace Kloop as head coach. The Dutch manager will have to fill huge boots. Replacing a man like Kloop can never be easy. However Slot is very positive and is looking forward to take charge of Anfield. It is also reported that Slot has already told his plans about signing Antonio Silva to Liverpool.
Why Liverpool need Silva
Liverpool have already confirmed that they will not renew contract with Joel Matip. Joel Matip is now set to become free agent making his move away from Anfield. Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez have not been to their best. Virgil Van Dijk is still the main man in defense. The other promising star Liverpool have is Jarell Quansah. However Quansah is still 21 years old and is still learning. Van Dijk is now 32 years old and Liverpool are aware of finding his replacment before his form dips. Arrival of Silva can be beneficial for both parties. Silva can learn from one of the best defender ever and Liverpool can develop a star for their future.
How good is Antonio Silva
Antonio Silva has been in Benfica’s academy since he was 13 years old. Due to his performances he earned his spot in senior team. Silva made his senior debut in August 2022 and ever since has not looked back. He is now regular starter at Benfica. Benfica have renewed his contract until 2027 and have set a release clause of €100 million. His current market value is €45 million according to Transfermarkt. Silva also has made his international debut and has played 9 matches for Portugal until now.
Silva is right footed defender but can play on both sides of centre defense. He is know for his excellent timing in tackling. Along with intercepting the ball and winning back possesion, Silva also has good control over the ball. His passing skills are really good and can distrubute the ball perfectly. The maturity he possesses at such an young age is what makes him quality defender with great future.
Who else are in race for Silva
Along with Liverpool some other bug clubs have set their eyes on Silva too. Real Madrid were reported to be very keen to sign Silva. However recent reports say that Madrid are willing to move away from the 20 year old defender. Madrid are not ready to pay €100 million for the defender making them fall out of the race.
Manchester United are also reported to be looking for Silva. United will be looking for Varane’s replacement. Raphael Varane and the club have already announced about his departure. Jonny Evans is also set to leave Old Trafford. However United will not play in Champions league next season causing a doubt about Silva’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Along with Madrid and two English clubs, Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the portugese international. The Bundesliga giants are looking forward to strengthen their defense after having a terrible season.
