Liverpool’s latest signing Wataru Endo admits his full start against Newcastle United as ‘tough’. The 30-year old Japanese International also admitted that he could play “much better” than he did against Newcastle on Sunday. Endo was well aware about Newcastle match at St. James Park would be a tough challenge and so it proved out too.

Endo not happy with his Liverpool full start debut

After a decent substitute performance against Bournemouth, it was a chance for Endo to catch some eyes on his first full start for the Reds. However, after being down to 10-men even before half an hour mark, its really difficult to properly assess the player on the pitch.

In the post-match presentation, the Japanese skipper seemed to be self-critical. Speaking to LFCTV after the game, Endo added,

Current Premier League Standings

Amazing feeling, a very difficult game we had to play with 10-men. It was a very tough game for me but I’m so happy to win it.”

He continues to add, “For me it’s very tough but I just try to do my best. After 10-men we just tried not to concede, that was my job. Of course I can be better. Second-half was very tough, but I just try to do my best.

“Defensively I think I can be better. Next time I hope we can play better and I can play much better, I just try to get ready for next week.”

As Endo also points out, he was assigned the task for making sure Liverpool must not concede a second goal. Although, he was not the only one responsible for this, he somehow manages to do it before being subbed at an hour mark.

Now with the deadline day approaching, Liverpool must look for alternatives as it is quite evident that Endo is not upto his teammates’ levels. Endo shouldn’t be written off after a difficult first full outing in red, but there are a few worrying warning signs.
