London Derby Tests Title Resolve as Palace Visit the Emirates

London Derby tests title resolve as Palace visit the Emirates. Arsenal finally comes back to the premises of the premier leagues on Sunday in a London derby against Crystal Palace. They are in need of securing their well-acquired spot at the top of the league. The game at the Emirates Stadium is the opposition of the league leaders against a strong Palace team which occupies the 8th position in the league.

The Clash of Contrasting Forms

The Gunners are on a tide of tremendous momentum with their six match victories in all competitions. They have been especially dominant in their shape against the Emirates. The 3 consecutive home wins in league, also their goal record of 2.67 in the season, and zero goals against. This is in the defense solidarity. A trademark of their campaign as they have conceded only three goals in their initial eight games in the league.

Crystal Palace with Oliver Glasner at the helm are a challenging force. They have won 21 of their 25 away games in the recent past demonstrating their strength in the road. However, they have had tight games in the Premier league in this season with an average of 1.5 goals per game and only a goal against.

The Injury Concerns and Key Absences

This match will involve a lot of team news. Arsenal will also be missing one of its main creators in Martin Odegaard, who suffered a shoulder injury. Also two attackers namely, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Crystal Palace too are experiencing a crisis of injuries. They are without Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad in the midfield and defense.

Author’s Opinion

History of recent years is much in favor of the hosts. Last three meetings between the two clubs have seen Arsenal winning and have won four out of the past five games against Palace. With their recent shape and advantage of home, Arsenal is the obvious winner that will obtain another crucial three points on their way to the title.
