After selling their core players the club did not sign suitable replacements. Instead they signed cost ineffective players who are struggling to find their foot in English football. Lopetegui after signing for West Ham United made his intention clear. David Moyes left an old and unbalanced squad for the next manager.
West Ham to sign youngster amid Lucas Paqueta situation
The first task for Julen Lopetegui as West Ham manager will be to get rid of extra players. So that the suitable signings can be made. It is also important to keep the core players of the squad for next season. After selling Declan Rice to Arsenal, we can see the club still struggling to replace the Englishman. Lucas Paqueta has been charged by the FA in relation to four separate breaches of betting rules during his time with West Ham. We have seen this situation before with Sandro Tonali. According to several reports the London club could actually sue the 26-year-old for a ‘breach of contract’. Paqueta is under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2027.

According to A Bola, West Ham are eyeing a record £85 million move to sign Pedro Goncalves from Sporting CP this summer. However looking at the financial condition of the club this big move will need the departure of Lucas Paqueta. Lopetegui will also need to improve other areas of his squad.
