Manchester United consider Milos Kerkez as a possible left back replacement

Manchester United may approach Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez as a plausible solution to their left back problems. The number of injuries this season have been mammoth for the Red Devils. Erik Ten Hag would endure more than 65 different cases of unavailability throughout the campaign.

Moreover, defense has been the most vulnerable area for the Red Devils. The absentees would force Ten Hag to draw alternates to alternates and finally start Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat at the back. Moreover, the Red Devils would finish the campaign on a record low 8th place conceding 58 goals.

Although, not just the center-back but also the full back (left back in particular) is an area of concern for United. Luke Shaw usually starts the position. However, the Englishman has proved to be injury prone of late. Additionally, Tyrell Malacia was bought by the Red Devils to replace Shaw. Malacia would play good football in his first season.

However, the fullback would pick a knock of his own and would go on to miss the entire second season! If not for Diogo Dalot’s versatility, the Red Devils would have been in serious trouble this season. Dalot would go on to start as a left back and put stellar performances throughout the campaign.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Manchester United’s interest in Milos Kerkez

Manchester United consider Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as an alternative. Ben Jacobs talked about United’s consideration in an interview in February.

Subsequently renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed United’s pursuit of Milos Kerkez. The Italian wrote on his post:

“Manchester United will bring in new left back for sure this summer… Milos Kerkez, one of the players being monitored for that position. No talks yet but appreciated.”

Additionally, Kerkez may attract attention of several European clubs due to his impressive playing abilities. The 20-year old full back made 31 appearances for the Cherries this season. Moreover, Kerkez is no short of international experience having won 15 caps for Hungary.

Milos Kerkez to United: Bournemouth may make things difficult!

Manchester United will be spending big bucks this summer as the Red Devils look to rebuild from the scratch under INEOS. United are aware of the expenditure and striker, center-back and midfielder are current priorities. So, it is unlikely that the Red Devils will be looking to splurge extravagantly on a left-back.

However, Bournemouth are well versed with the interest of European clubs on signing the Hungarian. Undoubtedly, the Cherries will be looking to up the asking price if at all they consider a move for the 20-year old. Additionally, Kerkez has merely played one season with the Cherries after his arrival from AZ Alkmaar. Therefore, Bournemouth will try their best to retain the fullback’s services.

Henceforth, a high asking price from Bournemouth could eliminate United from the race for Kerkez altogether.

Is Kerkez the right fit for United?

The Red Devils will be lurking for a left back. Kerkez is a young impressive alternative and already experienced with the Premier League.

While Malacia won’t be totally out of the equation yet, Kerkez could find a place for himself rather quickly. Especially, since Malacia has been out of touch. The Red Devils could be open to making a loan deal for him. Additionally, United are all ears to sell Luke Shaw for a proper proposal.

Kerkez is merely 20 years old and fits into INEOS’ plan of signing young players looking to prove themselves on the big stage. Also, Kerkez is electric on the left flank and always looking to penetrate opposition defenses. So, United would be keen to sign a left back with an attacking intent who is also a good crosser of the ball.

The Red Devils will be quite content if they are able to secure a feasible move for the Hungarian.
