Manchester United finds confidence in Jarrad Branthwaite: Estimates a logical price point for new defender

Manchester United

Manchester United is one of the few teams in the world that makes headlines for the wrong reasons, even after the increase in trophies in the cabinet. The abysmal reasons for being in the spotlight are, however, justified by a poor line of defense. After Man Utd conceded 85 goals in all competition in the 23/24 season, the board, INEOS is rigorous on signing a new defender and is negotiating terms with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. Such a poor statistic in the line of defence has created history in Manchester United’s lineage. Branthwaite is valued at 75 million pounds by Sean Dyche, and the manager thinks that money is worth the quality. It is probable that Dyche wants to improve his squad for the upcoming season with the funds. However, Erik Ten Hag is hell-bent on refining a deal of 43 million pounds, which was rejected by the toffees.

Manchester United refusing to pay more than current bid for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite which seems justified

Branthwaite has recently received a call-up from England’s national team. Over his short years of service as a footballer, he has only made one appearance for the national team. Amidst all this, the Englishman has failed to make it into the 26-man squad for Euro 2024. Apart from everything, Branthwaite has had only one full-fledged, consistent season in the English top flight, and that makes the deal of 70 million sound ridiculous for Man Utd, to say the least. Maybe this can also be a smart trigger by Dyche to not let the defender with high potential leave. Dyche has received a struggling Everton side that was falling down the table, and he has the responsibility to restore it. At such a crucial moment, he cannot let his key man of defence leave for a direct rival.

On the contrary, Man Utd are also not on their best terms financially to make foolish deals. They are not willing to repeat the same common mistakes they have made in the past. Man Utd has a budget of 50 million pounds for restoring faith in the defense. With a striker in need as a back-up for Hojlund, Man Utd are reluctant to pay more than their current bid for Brainthwaite. Also, the Englishman has recorded a transfer market value of only 36 million pounds. The current offer is more than sufficient to seal a deal.

There were talks about improving a bid for the defender, but according to reports, The Daily Star has claimed that Man Utd will go for Leny Yoro as an alternative.
