Maresca fined for goal celebration against Liverpool

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca got fined and banned from touchline for one match for his goal celebration against Liverpool.

Maresca penalized for celebration against Liverpool

Estevao’s late strike against Liverpool led to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca showed his emotions quite passionately. The Chelsea manager received a somewhat two yellows during the match. The first one being a result of an argument between the coaching staff. And the second one for running out of the technical area to celebrate with his players at the corner flag.

The FA described the dash, which turned out to be a lasting moment for the supporters, as “improper conduct,” and accordingly, strictly imposed an £8,000 fine in conjunction with a one-match ban.

Now, the Forest game will see the Blues’ boss not on the pitch for their clash. However, he can speak in the dressing room before the game. For a lively guy like Maresca, this could be even harder for him.

A familiar situation for the Chelsea boss

Interestingly, this isn’t Maresca’s first brush with a touchline ban. The Italian was previously fined for a similar celebration when Pedro Neto scored a late winner against Fulham last season. His passion has rapidly become characteristic of him at Chelsea. But, it is evident that the FA does not appreciate his emotional expressions.

However, the head coach’s response was in line with the drama of that huge win over the PL title holders. It was a flashback for the fans to the very essence of football. While the FA may view it as misconduct, fans see it as pure passion from a head coach who lives every second of the game.

Author’s Opinion:

Head coach Enzo Maresca’s fire is what makes him special at the West London side. That celebration showed how much he cares. Football needs that raw emotion, not head coaches afraid to feel the moment.
