Noni Madueke Deal Details, Medical Scheduled

Arsenal were looking at Madueke from a long time. They made the first offer of £50 million to sign him. However, Chelsea rejected it. Then Arsenal improved the offer. The Final Structure is £48.5 millions + 3.5 million performance related add ons. Chelsea agreed to this fee and structure and club to club agreement was done.

Chelsea then allowed Madueke to go to London soon. Although they have a match against PSG in FIFA Club World Cup final in USA they let Madueke go as they did not want him to get any risky injury. This injury would have delayed the transfer.

Top Journalists have reported that, “Arsenal and Chelsea have completed the documents. Madueke is in London for his medical. He’ll sign a five-year deal. Total package: £52m.”

Why Arsenal want Noni Madueke? Why Medical Completed soon?

Arsenal want good backup options that can compete for starting positions. They wanted a player that can cover for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Madueke fits what Arsenal want. He is fast, he is skillful and also good in carrying the ball. Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta likes his play style, energy and attacking mindset. Arteta wants more attacking options. They are also looking to sign a Striker and a midfielder. However, a winger like Madueke was also part of the plan for this summer.

The Gunners wanted to complete the signing and Medical quickly. As They want him to be a part of their pre season training so that he can adapt to the new playstyle soon.

Madueke can play on both wings. This will give the Manager a chance to rotate his players. He can have quality options in his team. Madueke is just 23 years old and Arteta believes that he can develop him into a top level player soon.

Chelsea’s Stance

At Chelsea, Madueke sometimes showed moments of his talent. He contributed to the team and had many good memories. However, he was not able to consolidate his position in the team. He had 28 appearances for Chelsea and scored good amount of goals and assists.

Chelsea under Enzo Maresca did not see Madueke as their starter. He was used as a substitute from the bench in most of the games. He was not guaranteed playing time. Also, Chelsea will have to be careful about their Financial fair play situation. In this case, they have to make money from player sales. Selling Madueke for £52 million will help them balance their bills. The Blues have signed forwards like Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro and therefore they can afford to sell Madueke for a good price.

Maresca allowed Noni Madueke to leave Chelsea camp in USA for his Medical tests before signing for Arsenal even before Chelsea’s Final of FIFA CWC against PSG. In this case, A source close to the club has said, “We had an agreement in place…..We didn’t want to risk injury before the transfer.”

Author’s Opinion

This is a smart deal for both clubs. Noni Madueke is young, fast and talented player. He will bring cover for both the wings at Arsenal. Also, he would give a good challenge to become the starter at Arsenal. The Gunners feel that he brings potential and versatility in the team. If Mikel Arteta develops him into a top player, he will be part of Gunners Long term success.

On the other hand, Chelsea are happy to sell him. They got a good profit in this deal. This profit will help them take care of their financial fair play situation and balance their bills. Also, it will create space for new signings like Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro.

It will be exciting to see how this signing turns out for Arsenal. Will Noni Madueke become a starter at Arsenal? Will Chelsea regret to sell him?
