One Session Is All It Takes: Liverpool Era Starts for Alexander Isak

Liverpool FC

Alexander Isak is about to kick start his Liverpool run directly in the UEFA Champions League after having just one training session. The current Premier League champions will face Atletico Madrid in their UCL opener on 18th September. Fans got upset earlier when Arne Slot decided not to include the club’s latest signing, Alexander Isak, in the roster against Burnley. But Isak has now completed his first full day of training session with the whole squad. Reports suggest that the coach was quite satisfied with Isak’s fitness and has decided to give the player his Liverpool debut. But before predicting on his Liverpool debut, Alexander Isak has made some headlines already after completing his first training session.

The Reason Slot Excluded Alexander Isak against Burnley

Isak joined Liverpool dramatically on the last day of the summer transfer window. After a prolonged saga with Newcastle United, Liverpool finally succeeded to seal the deal of Alexander Isak. The Scouse supporters were hopeful before their clash against Burnley. But head coach Arne Slot decided not to include him in the squad. Instead, he put his trust in the Frenchman, Hugo Ekitike. Although Liverpool found it extremely difficult to beat their opponent, Arne Slot gave solid gametime to both Ekitike and Federico Chiesa. After the match, a portion of fans expressed their thoughts that this Liverpool should not start matches with a proper goal poacher. Ekitike always poses a constant threat and Chiesa has become a super sub. But with the inclusion of a player of Isak’s profile, the Reds finally have a target man. Actually, Slot didn’t want to take any risk with his new student. As Isak didn’t feature for the Magpies this season, Slot wanted him to be match fit.

Isak has Completed his First Liverpool Training Session

Before the big clash against Atletico Madrid, Arne Slot called up Alexander Isak for practice in the 21-men roster. While questioned about Isak’s availability, Arne Slot has clearly confirmed the striker’s official debut. “He will be able to play 45 on Wednesday as a minimum or a little bit more.”– said the Liverpool manager ahead of the match. Liverpool had 7 registered forwards in the training and Alexander Isak was one of them. The cameras have spotted a highly spirited Isak. Why won’t he play a full match then? Well, the answer is quite simple. Due to his clash with the Newcastle board, Isak has only played 18 minutes for the Sweden national team. Isak’s new club has also clearly informed him about their decision. Isak will play a whole 90-minute match if he becomes match fit only. Other than that, both the players and the coaching staff do not have any doubt on Isak’s abilities on the field. According to club captain Virgil Van Dijk, Alexander Isak is a complete striker of this generation.

Another Mouthwatering Faceoff between Liverpool and Atletico

Special rivalries have taken place in this grandest football stage of Europe over the years. For examples, things get tense whenever Real Madrid face Bayern Munich. But in recent times, the clash between the Los Blancos and Manchester City has become a modern European Classic. After years, Barcelona will face Chelsea and the football fans can’t wait for that. There emerges a sense of rivalry whenever Liverpool come up against Atletico Madrid. In the recent past, Liverpool had to face Diego Simeone’s team four times. Especially in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League R-16, the Rojiblancos famously knocked out the Reds. But since then, Liverpool have beaten Atletico Madrid. In overall UCL history, both Liverpool and Atletico have won three times against each other. This time, Liverpool are clearly the favourites to win this match. On the other hand, the third biggest club of Spain, Atletico Madrid, are having a tough time already this season. The Spanish club will also miss their ‘spiderman’, Julian Alvarez.
