Player with “Lightning pace” is set to leave Stamford bridge

Chelsea

Every transfer window seems to be busy for the Blues. The same can be said for this transfer window, with Chelsea making headlines every day. Enzo Maresca is responsible for building a new team worthy of finishing in the top four. In doing so, he seems to be recruiting more players than any other club at the moment. However, finally, news of a Chelsea player being released from the overstacked squad is up in the air. The player in question is 21-year-old Dion Rankine, who was once characterised with the trait of possessing “Lightening Pace” for Chelsea. Alas, it seems the road has come to an end for Rankine, who not only failed to approve the claims about his dexterity but also could not manage a single appearance at Stamford Bridge. At such a tender age, he has a world to explore. His next destination remains big gamble for scouts.

Dion Rankine is set to leave Chelsea permanently

Chelsea has a long record of loaning out players. It is true that in the past, Chelsea has developed world-class players from their academy. However, the Blues still lack the basic requirements, something of which La Masia is proud. Unlike many academies in the world, Chelsea takes poor care of the youngsters, with most sent out on repeatative loans in different leagues. The inconsistency hampers growth in players, and direct attention is not received. While players hope to get the first team appearances for a prestigious club, they end up wasting the prime. Lucas Piazon, an ex-Chelsea player, has heavily complained about this issue. This still remains persistent in the Premier League.

Somehow, the youngster, Dion Rankine, understands the importance of having regular game time, which is inevitable at Chelsea. He also understands the importance of not being constantly loaned out and seeking stability. This is a wise call by the speedster who has decided to end the relationship. With versatility running in his blood, Rankine can play either as a forward or a wingback. He spent last year playing regularly for League One side Exeter City during a season-long loan. He has ammassed 36 matches across all competitions. Wigan Athletic has shown interest in the player, and he is set to join them soon. This not only promises regularity but also an opportunity to start from scratch.

This might be a bitter  farewell for the boy who has dedicated himself to the Blues since he was 14, but the future seems sweet none the less.
