Arsenal have finished the season with a heartbreak. They managed to stay 2nd in Premier League and failed to win the league by only two points. However it will still go down as one of the best season Gunners ever had. Defensively Arsenal were very strong and have conceded less goals than anyone else in the league. Along with defense the gunners also had an great scoring season. However the strikers have failed to make a mark. Arsenal are linked with various strikers across the europe with Victor Osimhen being one of them.
This season Arsenal managed to score 91 goals in Premier League. However there first choice strikers Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus have only scored 9 out of those. Mikel Arteta used Kai Havertz as a striker. Havertz despite not playing in his preferred position didn’t disappoint Arteta. The German international scored 13 goals along with providing 7 assists. However the failure from primary strikers have forced the gunners to look for striker. Sporting director Edu has revealed that the club will be looking for striker, midfielder, left back and possibly a keeper too.
Osimhen giving priority to Arsenal
Osimhen’s Napoli contract is going to expire in 2026. However the Nigerian striker is reported to make his way away from Italy. The release clause of Osimhen is set at €130 million by Napoli. Last year Saudi side Al-Hilal made an offer of €140 million but Osimhen didn’t accept that deal as he wanted to stay in Europe. This year Saudi clubs are again interested for the Nigerian striker. However the Nigerian striker thinks otherwise.
According to Kiss Kiss Napoli, Osimhen wants a move to Arsenal. Osimhen told that he is interested in joining Premier League side but if the offers don’t show up he might be on his way to Saudi. Along with Arsenal several other clubs are linked with Nigerian international. However Osimhen’s priority seems to join Gunners.
Except Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United intersted in 25 year old striker. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested along with premier league sides. Napoli want the clubs to pay the full price if they want Osimhen. Chelsea are currently on radar to breach PSR rules so it would be interesting to see how they will manage to make an offer.
How good is Osimhen
Osimhen has been key part of Napoli ever since his arrival. The Nigerian striker arrived at Naples in 2020 from Lille. This season Osimhen has scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 Serie A appearances. His overall goal scoring tally this season is 17 across all competitions for Napoli.
In his 4 year spell with Napoli, Osimhen has scored 76 goals along with providing 18 assists in 132 matches. His role was very crucial when Napoli went on to win Serie A in 2022-23 season. In that season Osimhen played 32 games and scores 26 goals. He was also top goalscorer in the league. Arsenal hoping to win the premier league could use someone like Osimhen to bag 20 plus goals in the season.
Who else are Arsenal considering
Arsenal have been linked heavily to make a move for Viktor Gyokeres. It was also reported that the gunners are monitoring Gyokeres very closely. Ivan Toney was also a name that had been linked with Arsenal quite few times. Arsenal were also reported to be interested in Alexander Isak but that deal is reported to be very difficult to happen. To make space for the new striker Eddie Nketiah seems to make a move away from North London. Along with him, Jesus’s career is also uncertain with the gunners.
