Victory against Sri Lanka is more convincing than Pakistan, says Gautam Gambhir. India defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs.
On September 12th, India faced Sri Lanka for the Super Four Stage of the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. India won the toss and decided to bat first. While batting, Indian wickets fell early, including the wickets of star batsman Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. However, Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma was the highest scorer as he scored a half-century (53 off 48 balls). Kl Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Axar Patel also scored a few runs, and India somehow managed to put 213 runs on the board.

However, India won the match with the stellar performance of bowlers. Gautam Gambhir commented that the victory against Sri Lanka was more convincing than that of Pakistan.
Gautam Gambhir on Star Sports stated
“This victory for me was more convincing than Pakistan. We won against Pakistan by 228 runs but this would give them a lot of confidence”
He further added
“There was no doubt about the batting unit. There were always doubts about Jasprit Bumrah coming back after an injury. Then you got Kuldeep and the other bowlers. But defending 213 on this wicket, plus the conditions. I know there was a bit of grip on the wicket but it gripped more in the first innings”
He also said
“Defending 217 against Sri Lanka, they are a really good side playing against spin. This would give them a lot of confidence going into the final and then the World Cup. because the moment your Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav start firing, I think it gives a lot of confidence to the captain”
